I just purchased a 2003 LQ4 6.0l engine it comes with the computer wiring harness alt,p/s pump,starter, and intake w/ DBW throttle body . It has a 4l80e behind it now that I think I will not get (because of fitment issues), so how do I covert it to use a 4l60e trans and is there anything special I need to make sure I get for the DBW throttle body like another computer or something for it when I go pick it up, I don't want to forget to get something out of the truck when I go get it? BTW its going in a 1992 Trans Am convertible.

Basically uo can only use the block and internals. The intake and tb wont fit, the front accessories wont fit, the oil pan wont fit. Do get the ecu and wiring harness uncut though. Im running a t56, but I beleive the 4L60e will bolt right up.

 

I could use the throttle body with a ls1 intake though right? I plan on using a KWIK performance accessory kit. I have heard that the 4l60e has different pin-out than the 4l80 and computer needs to be re-programed for the switch confirmation on this would be great maybe some pics and charts to help with the change?

 

if you stick with dbw, you'll need the TAC unit and the pedal setup as well

the tb you have is most likely a 4-bolt style, so it will not work on the ls1/6 intake (they are 3 bolt).

what intakes use the 4 bolt throttle body's? what does the TAC unit look like?

 

yes you can use the throttle body. just need the pedal and tac module as said above.

look on ls1tech classifieds for fbody front accessories. i got all the brackets for i think it was 75 shipped off a guy parting out a wreck.

get a ls6 intake, an oilpan, remember you need to swap balancers on the crank to the fbody one, should be good to go.

as you have more specific questions, post up. my 91 bird has an 03 lq4 as well. take some pics too, we love pics.

will the fuel injectors off the truck intake work on a LS1 or ls6 style intake , and is it best to wire the harness into the 3rd gen one or just run it plug and play separate from the 3rd gen one ? I will be getting the fuse box with the harness to.

Truck injectors only fit the truck intake. You'll want LS1/2 stuff to fit under the hood

what kind of fuel injectors would I need for a ls1 style intake I am purchasing a ls1 intake used and would like to replace the injectors and a not sure if universal accel or venom injectors would work?

Don't the truck injectors fit the LS1 intake and fuel rail? I understand the connector is different, but I didn't think the rest was different.

I could be wrong, and don't have any of the truck stuff around anymore, but that was the impression I had.

 

I will be able too check it out soon I am going tonight to get a ls1 engine that has a bent rod off a guy w/heads short block cam intake assy. w injectors , fuel rail , throttle body , power steering pump, and possibly accessory brackets for 425!

 

just picked up my new parts ls1 short block with one bent rod , heads , intake w/injectors ,fuel rail ,throttle body , power steering pump w/brackets, oil pan baffles and tube, misc bolts and valve train parts , and cam. What compression would my lq4 have with the ls1 heads? should I use the ls1 cam?

The truck injectors are physically shorter, use a different connector, different flow rate

They do fit the hole in the intake and fuel rail. A penny pincher can use the truck injectors and rail on a car style intake. Itll look awful though because it has a much taller hoop and the plastic fuel rails are massive logs
