Re: another 5.3 LM7 build
finally was able to dig out the camera so more pics are to come, don't mind the wiring, i ran out of supplies, but when i get some more i'm going to restart and organize!!!
Re: another 5.3 LM7 build
Where are your wire labels? I cant make heads or tails of that rats nest
Pull all the pins back out, bundle the connector's wires and tag each individual one

Re: another 5.3 LM7 build
for those who want to do ur wiring urself, my advise is to either send it to pocket, or buy one from painless... either or are plug and play

Re: another 5.3 LM7 build
found a ls1 harness from speedway motors for around 600 dollars, so if this wiring falls through i'll just order that one and send it and my third gen harness to pocket and let him fix it. I'm not doing wiring anymore if this one doesn't work

37LBS This is the bolts that hold the motor mount to the block.
Err... Just rereading, I have no clue on the bolt specs.

Re: another 5.3 LM7 build
Just a quick question for you...and please don't take this the wrong way....but why would you use that rusty, crashed, beat to heck shell for an LSx swap? To be honest with you, $500 seems like a lot for that. I have a freind selling an 87 305/5 speed TA for $850 right now....rough around the edges and high miles, but minimal rust and a solid platform to build on. I would start with a better body before getting too involved. Has the car even ever been checked for straightness?
I understand that you may be on a tight budget, but I left my good old 305 in my car for years before I finally had the cash to correctly do an LSx swap. It's not cheap no matter how you slice it, so I would def think about EVERYTHING you will need, and if you have to cut corners at all, just wait till you can do it right. It's easy to buy a motor and think you spent the major money already, but the engine itself is probably one of the cheaper things you'll need for the swap. To give you an idea, I paid $800 for my engine, but the harness and PCM will cost me $700 alone. The K member and trans crossmember were almost $900. It gets expensive quick!
Like I said, don't take any of this the wrong way. Just something I figured I'd throw out there. Oh and BTW, if your only running a 4.8 with a cam, a FAST manifold will be overkill and WAY more money added to the build. Go with an LS6 manifold....it will flow all you'll ever need for the 4.8.

Re: another 5.3 LM7 build
car is straight... and car has ONLY 14,000 miles on it... it's been sitting up for years in the weather... i got my 4.8 with wiring and PCM for a 350, and a 305. i'm swapping 5.3 internals into the 4.8 with the 4.8 pistons to make it HO, heads, cam, intake, all of that is going on it. but i am going with the ls6 intake until i can find a fast 92... buddy of mine had the same setup in his car with the fast 90 and made a little over 400 HP. i know this swap is going to be expensive and i am on no budget... it's going to kick off in january, as i will have more money to throw away on it. I, myself, had a body man look at the car and he said that he didn't see anything wrong with the frame being warped... I got a car, with 14,000 miles on it for 500 dollars, u won't find that everyday. even has the '94 tag on it
Re: another 5.3 LM7 build
That is the factory power dist block. I use a S10 5 pole block, but the purpose is the same. All of the the power wires are moved to the power block, instead of having some there and the rest on the starter

Re: another 5.3 LM7 build
Are you sure the odometer didn't roll over once or twice since they only have 5 digit odometers? That car does not look like it has 14K miles on it. Either way, I would have just thought that you would want to start out with a nicer body if you plan on putting all this time and money into it for an LSx swap. Especially if you have no budget.

Inside the car, remove the pass hush panel and drop the ECM. Near the ECM is a small pigtail running into the dash, thats the C207. Unhook those and follow the harness to the fender. Remove the plastic C-clip, push the retainer in and the grommet will pop out and the bundle can be pulled through

Re: another 5.3 LM7 build
Yeah, I think the guy was in a little over his head. Its ok, I too used to dream big when I was younger.
I read all these LS1 swap threads, I'm still working on buying a donor car. I'm willing to pay good money for one, so hopefully it works out.
Good luck with the Fords 1FSTBRD, don't give up on hot-rodding!

Well i just read this whole thread and man was that a crazy ride!! I think you have decided to sell the motor/car and/or give up on it like 6 times. Then out of nowhere you make big progress on it. Keep with it man and dont give up so easy, it will be worth it in the end.

Re: another 5.3 LM7 build
yea it has been one hell of a ride, but like i said, i won't know if i did good or not until i get the PCM and starter, which if everything goes like it's been going will be a while, i'm still debating on selling the 4.8 and going straight to ls1. But i'm not sure yet. i still do not have the motor mounts, fbody oil pan, or ls1/ls6 intake but i'm just doing a mock up right now to see if the wiring is correct

lol yea, i had to sit back and think on it for a while, but finally decided that it would be cheaper gettin the 4.8 to run in the camaro, then buying a mustang, then buying a motor and harness...

Re: another 5.3 LM7 build
thats fine with me... sending me 8-15 questions a day.. honestly gets old. i remember you asking me a different question every day where did i get my intake from, my cam from, my headers from, etc. asking me if my car was a berlinetta or a sport coupe 3-4 times within 2 months, asking me where did i get my hood 3 times, asking me MANY times to come basically rewire your harness, i could go on for a while.... i believe your in over your head for a 16 year old high school kid...with no job.. but what do i know i drive a sport coupe slow camaro.. have a nice day

first off dude, ur camaro looks like spit... and i'm 17... and like i said a long time ago i don't need ur advise if ur gunna be a douche bag about it, and if i really wanted u touching my car or helping me out with it i would have found someway to pay you, so the best thing u can do is stay out of my business and I'll stay out of yours... understand, or do i need to type words that you can actually understand?

mines coming soon Jon!!
