5.3 Power steering

I am swapping a 5.3 in my 87 and am using the truck accesories but have one problem i dont know what to do about the p/s hose
Anybody have any ideas?
Also would it hurt the pump to start and run the motor without it hooked up?
Thanks

Re: 5.3 Power steering

Not sure about the 5.3 hoses, but the 5.7 camaro hoses screw right in to the third gen box, and I dont think it would hurt the pump to start the engine as long as you kept it real short.

If you start the engine with the belt attached & no hoses on the PS pump, whatever fluid is inside the pump will be squirted out. Run it too long without any fluid & running is dry (without the fluid to lubricate the internals) & I'm sure that would not be healthy for the pump.
