Cylinder head to firewall clearance w/ Spohn mounts?
For those of you who have done the LS swap with the Spohn mounts (which I assume is most of you), how much clearance is there between the cylinder heads and the firewall?
When I do my swap, I'll be relocating my coils off of the valve covers in order to clean up the engine's appearance. I've seen that MAST offers a relocation option that mounts the coils to the back of the cylinder head with a custom bracket, and I thought that utilizing a similar mounting scheme would be a much better option than relocating the coils to the battery tray area like I'd originally planned. The thing is, I'd like to have this sorted out prior to installing the motor, since I'm guessing that mounting them there after it's in will be a real pain in the ***.
So... for those of you who already have your LS in, can somebody measure the clearance between the back of your cylinder head and your firewall?
Thanks

If the coils are relocated directly behind the cylinder head, then there will not be enough room. Not in a position to go to the car and take measurements, but I bet there is not more than 1.5-2" to work with. Look at picture for reference.

2" might be enough depending on how I orient the coils, I don't know. I'm going to have to see.

Also heater hoses and wiring harness running back there.

The heater hoses run above the head, and the harness can go anywhere I need it to.
Anybody willing to actually take a measurement or two?

I took some measurements for you...looks like it's about 1-3/8" on each side....awfully tight
