haha, start them early, that's what my dad did! even my girls are into cars, so i guess it's a family affair.
just a thought on the injectors. i picked up a set of buick injectors for the sc'd 3800 that were rebuilt for like $130 shipped. they flow 41.5lbs at 58psi.

Re: FINALLY! Out with the old...in with the new!!
Hmm... wouldnt that have been a set of 6 for the 3800?
I dont mind popping for a set of INJ. Looking at the blue demon inj from FIC if I need to get new. Im actually exploring the option of using a set of Ford Racing injectors that I might get for FREE. If I can make them work, and they flow what I need, Im golden. I need to sell some crap so I can get tune money...ASAP.

Re: FINALLY! Out with the old...in with the new!!
I might as well post...
I have a set of 1000 mile injectors from a Coyote. They are EV14, and I got them 100% free. Im confused on their height. They arent "short" injectors, but Im not sure if they'll fit or not. Getting conflicting info. Im measuring ~65mm oring to oring.
Also, Im getting conflicting info on their flow rating. One place says they are 32.8 lb/hr in the Mustang's 55 psi fuel system (that might not be the pressure at the inj though). And another place has them simply rated at 36 lbs @ 43.5 PSI. Which would make them like 44 lbs in my rail. (Edit: Looks like they are almost 36lb @ 3 Bar. So...approx 44lb in my rail. Flow wise, they should support what I need...I think. Just need to see about fitment now)
I can get a set of connects to go from the USCAR connector to my EV1 style for really cheap. (~$25 for the set)
As for tuning, I got a ton of info from a stock Coyote ECM...which I THINK should have everything my tuner would need, but obviously I would verify. (Edit: Not sure if that would be useful to a tuner, but I found lots of info from Ford Racing on scaling...tuner might find it useful. Ill verify with them before I spend any money on adapters)
Thoughts? Anyone know much about these things? Ive read good things about the EV14...being the latest and greatest. They're cheap to buy...but still. Free is awesome...better than ~$250.

Arent the coyote engines DOHC? Every ford injector for a DOHC engine Ive seen uses a split spray thats not the best for single port SBCs. In other words youd be hosing down the runner walls instead of spraying at the valve. Atomization goes out the window

Pocket... I dont know what the pattern is like exactly. Its the 4 hole nozzle.
I did google "EV14 spray pattern", and got a video titled Bosch EV14 spray...and I see what you mean about the split. Didnt realize that. I read a bunch of tech articles claiming they were the latest and greatest, and didnt even think about them being the latest and greats on LATER cars haha.
Wonder if it would be an issue? Its a fairly short distance from the injector port to the back of the valves no? Would the split even have a chance to become a problem? In the video, it seemed to stay pretty narrow close to the nozzle.
But Ill take whatever advice/input I can on this! Like I said free is good, but worst case Ill sell these to someone that can use em and buy something from FIC.

Are you accounting for the velocity of the air moving through the port? Seems it would be like a tornado throwing droplets of rain?

Re: FINALLY! Out with the old...in with the new!!
Hey guys. Ive sort of taken a break from racking my brain about injectors. My wife got sick, and priority shifted, so nothing's moved. Also been crazy swamped with work and have been working at home at night haha.
Now things are getting back to normal, and I can put some more time into the car. I still have these Ford injectors sitting here. Ide LOVE to use a free set of new tech injectors. But not at the risk of leaving power/drivability on the table. I havent had a chance to talk with FIC yet. I posted on tech, but havent gotten any responses. I guess not many people would BUY these for this application when there are other options. So Im still thinking on that.
I took the car out yesterday for a bit. Its still running ok. I still have to watch what I do, but man...it feels like it has so much more torque. The rear just squats or spins in 2nd gear if you jump on it some. My other set up didnt hit like that.
Went ahead and picked up some fresh dino 5W30 to swap out the Joe Gibbs stuff. I have about 200 miles on it, and I think they say 500 max. So Im just going to change the oil/filter right before I put the car away. Tune wont happen until spring at this point. Im not going to try to get it done while its 30 degrees out haha.
It did fire up really easy for me yesterday when it was 32 out. Let it warm up, and it did ok at first. Shifting sucked..super notchy. But once things warmed all the way it smoothed out for me. I think I have an exhaust leak up front. Possibly where I welded extensions onto the collectors to get the v-bands in a better spot. I just hear the same tick-tacking that I heard before. Super loud coming from the trans tunnel area. I think when it warms up, Im going to try something that may or may not work. I got some high temp epoxy a couple years back. Supposedly cures and hardens similar to jb weld, but its got more metal in it, and resists 1000's of degrees. Im going to basically butter up the welds after a cleaning, and let it cure. See if that quiets it down, even if only for a short period of time. Then at least I know its a leak. We'll see.... I just need winter to go fast haha.

Re: FINALLY! Out with the old...in with the new!!
man, i just read this from start to finish today, was better than an article in any hot rod mag ... that first time you started it up, i could smell that smell we all love ... the smell of a first start ... i was a bit shocked it took you over 9 min to open the cutouts and 11 min to spin them though (haha) ... your son and my son (just turned 3) would get along just fine when it comes to the 3rd gens, my son gets really mad when the iroc is down (and it is down right now, from a small leak in the return fuel line) because he has to ride in the regal, haha ... so glad to see you have yours up and running again ... do you plan to keep it around for your son? i got my iroc for my son (so when he gets older we can do some work on it together) just going to leave the LO3 in it for him though and maybe get it up to around 250 or 300 hp (if a LO3 will even make that much) thank you for the nice read man

Re: FINALLY! Out with the old...in with the new!!
Haha thanks man! Glad you liked the read. This took way longer than I wanted, and wasnt terribly "swap" informational. But if it was entertaining at the least Im good with that!
I plan to keep this car until I die haha. It will likely be torn apart at least one more time if that happens. My dream is to strip it down completely. Chassis mods, get everything perfect, new cleaner wiring front to back, completely sound deadened, new paint, freshen/update interior, and something a little more under the hood. I want stealthy fast eventually. So smaller cam, more cubes haha. Maybe a maggie or something fun.
If my son gets it at some point...that Im not sure of. Hopefully he'll get into his own project that we can tinker with. It'll always be "dad's car". Im dreading the day he asks to take it out...or take it to prom. haha. Ill have to put a valet switch on the PCM for that
