Lets rebuild this Ls2

well long story short no.7 cylinder went lean and the piston grenaded inside the chamber and messed up the head (not beyond repair) but its still a sore to see. already bought a new piston, rod, rings, and bearings for the one cylinder and i plan on putting it back together, cylinder looks perfect. Ill be sending the one head back to t.e.a to have it fixed... also sold my 230/238 .600/.604 112+2 eps cam and bought a slightly bigger one 239/246 .624/.615 112+3.. we will see how this goes

Damn....after that long wait on getting the heads, this happens. Sorry to hear that man. But now, time for bigger and better things

Oh just curious, how did it run lean? Wasn't your car tuned?

Re: Lets rebuild this Ls2

Looks like you might have a valve kissing the piston on the cylinder to the left?

Saw the same mark on the busted one too. I was gonna comment since he went with a bigger cam... Figured he had to have noticed...or it was prior to him owning the motor maybe. Not 100% on his build or its history.

Re: Lets rebuild this Ls2

Yeah I know im a lucky ****... But the reason it went lean is my tank is not sumped and I had roughly alittle more than 1/4 of a tank and was doing a 1-2-3 to see if I had finally gotten my tick master adjusted right when at the top of 3rd it poped 3 times and I shut it off... Guessing it didnt have enough fuel and leaned out, or an injector stopped working because none of the other cylinders or plugs look to have ran lean. Also the kissed pistons yall see are from my old 317's I had, the heads were shaved .040 and the valves touched the pistons on each cylinder.. I had the cam ground from a known cam expert on ls1tech but nothing was hurt so all was well, no sharp spots to cause excess heat.
