LTX and LSX Putting LT1s, LS1s, and their variants into Third Gens is becoming more popular. This board is for those who are doing and have done the swaps so they can discuss all of their technical aspects including repairs, swap info, and performance upgrades.

Here's the plan:

Here's the plan:

I recently have acquired a 4.3 baby LT1 and a 5.7 LT1, both for free. My plan is to take the crank and rods out of the 4.3 and stick them into the 5.7 to make a 302.

Now, this is where it gets fun: I'm also going to delete the Opti and use a regular distributor with a converted Gen 1 single plane intake, swap the firing order to 18726543, and stick her into a stick TPI car so I can continue to run the EFI system with MPFI.

Basically, my end goal is to have an EFI, hydraulic roller 302 Camaro that spins to about 8K for running around the curves.

A true RS thirdgen, if you will.

Thoughts?

3" stroke, long rods, and the LTX stuff is stronger than the Gen 1 stuff. I don't see it as being a problem, especially with switching the firing order to 18726543

I dont consider 5.7" a long rod, that makes for a piston with a long compression height, combined with the fact that its a cast piston. swapping 4&7, and 2&3 will help, but we have only seen major improvments on indivual runner applications such as a sprint car engine. Not sure if the 4.3 crank is cast or steel, but honestly, I would want either in my engine. Also be kind of interested on seeing a hyd roller cam spin to 8000....

Re: Here's the plan:

5.94" rods.

Forged crank and rods. Lighter and stronger than Gen 1.
