LT1 LT Header Help
I bought a set of Hedman 68469 for my LT1 T56 swap. I am having a hell of a time trying to fit the driver side header. I have it in place but it is hitting the k-member and the a arm. I want to minimize the dents I put into the header and don't want to pull the motor to grind the cross member. Any help would help a lot. Thanks

Did you get headers for the fourth gen body style? those headers dont fit. You have to get D-port headers for a third gen body style. But oval ports work fine too

They are suppose to be the D-port header for the third gen body style. Here is a link to the headers I ordered.

thats strange. Does the passenger side fit good? I put edelbrock shorties on mine, passenger side went right in but i had to unbolt the motor mount and jack it up to get the header to clear the firewall on the driver side

Re: LT1 LT Header Help
The drivers side and passenger side clamshell mounts are different. BARELY. But they are. The motor will be a little higher on one side and lower on the other if you get the mounts mixed up... very common.
The other issue is the only car Ive ever seen with those had to have one of the primaries absolutely MANGLED to get it to fit in the car. Sounds similar, it was the driver's side. Problem is Im not sure he had his mounts backwards or not, because that's something not many are aware of, probably because it usually doesn't matter. With LT's though... it probably matters.
What confused me at the time is Ive got the non-d-port versions of those headers , and I had to dimple the same primary, but nowhere near that bad. It just needed to be massaged on my car, but on his LT1 car the thing was crushed. It had to kill performance.
The regular versions fit pretty well... so I dont really understand why the D-port versions would not, but whether it helps or not, I've seen this same problem, and the only solution was just to beat it until it fits... as sickening as that ended up looking.
I would try and switch the motor mounts and see if that helps. Maybe go to polyurethane mounts which allegedly raise up the engine a little more than stock (Even though they shouldn't).

Re: LT1 LT Header Help
That sucks in my case. Is there any way to identify the clam shells without removing the motor?
