LSX Oil Pressure Sender and Coolant Temp Sender Wiring Question

Hello all,

I'm tackling the last few parts on my wiring harness but I have a quick question about the LSX oil pressure sender and coolant temp sender.

Where are you guys getting the 5V ref signal from for the oil pressure sender? I understand that the oil pressure signal goes to E5 of the C100 but I'm not sure how you guys are setting up the 5V ref. Can I tap it in parrallel with the MAP 5V for example? I'm not sure the specifics of how the sensors work but I am assuming that they work on varying resistance and the PCM reads the change in voltage meaning that both sensors would still work because they will be getting 5V but I am not sure if the increased current through the PCM will cause damage.

Also, for the coolant temp gauge, do I just splice off the coolant temp signal and feed it to F5 of the C100?

Thanks in advance,

Steve

Re: LSX Oil Pressure Sender and Coolant Temp Sender Wiring Question

read the swap stickies as your answers are all there already.i dont know for camaros if its any different but you can just splice into the oil press signal wire directly to the gauge and it will work fine on firebirds. for coolant temp gauge most guys use the 98 ls1 coolant sensor since it has 3 wires. 1 for ground,1 for the dash gauge, and 1 for the signal to the computer.

My 98 oil sender had only 2 wires. One to Ground and the other to the gauge. Works great.

Re: LSX Oil Pressure Sender and Coolant Temp Sender Wiring Question

Thanks jazzdadss,

That makes a lot of sense now. I kept reading that people were doing it but I wasn't sure how people were getting the 5V ref but that's because there isn't one required.

Well it seems like I'll have to get the 98 Coolant Temp Sender and the 98 Oil Pressure Sender.

Thanks for the replies guys

Re: LSX Oil Pressure Sender and Coolant Temp Sender Wiring Question

Just use the factory thirdgen oil pressure sending unit plug from your C100 firewall connector. You can use the 98 CTS and add your green thirdgen temp guage wire I to this plug, or run two separate temp senders.
