Hi guys, i've started my swap already and I have a few questions.
1) Can I use my donor car's key for the VATS system or will I just have to do the resistor bypass trick?
2) Will the LT1 radiator, dual fans, hoses, etc.. fit into my thirdgen without the hassle of cutting and such?
3) Will the 4L60E driveshaft work with my 28 spline rear end? Same length and all?

I don't believe they are compatible, but I don't know that for a fact. Most members seem to do the bypass.Originally Posted by jahblah

the third gen radiator is bigger from what ive been told
4) Can the AC compressor be gutted out or would removing it be better/easier? I do not plan to use the AC..

You are not going to use A/C down here in the Carolinas?! As you saw in my thread, I'm going with the Corvette accessory set up which puts the A/C compressor and alternator up top and cutting the K-member is not needed. BUT, this set up costs around $800.

Lol I've gotten too accustomed to the Carolina humidity. My camaro had AC and I NEVER used it. Never cut it on. I'm a windows down kind of guy. I had saw your thread and was searching for a Vette acc setup but they are (apparently) worth their weight in gold lol. So I went with the AC delete pulley. Just ordered it about 4 minutes ago actually. I think I will post a build thread like you did. Photos and such. And I will be heading to SC to feel YOUR heat in about 2 months. USMC Boot Camp on Parris Island, SC. Can't wait.Originally Posted by Strick1

Remember what Gen Patton said,"Learn how to let the enemy die for his country." Boot camp will teach you how to help him die for his country. I'll thank you in advance for your service. My advice: start now to get in shape if you haven't already.Originally Posted by jahblah

Indeed. And I am in pretty great shape. I run 4-6 miles all the time, weight train, and core train. I'm extremely physically active. Just waiting to be pushed beyond my full limits. This swap is pushing my patient limits now. Broke a manifold bolt and still trying to gather how I will do the fuel lines. I am not doing AN lines anymore. Too much to piece together. I will be attempting to fuse the 4th gen fuel lines with the 3rd gen hard lines. Probably will melt them together. And this harness thing. Killing me lolOriginally Posted by Strick1

I've been studying the shop manuals for both my Camaro and Caprice. It's possible, but it will take at least a case of adult refreshment once I start on the wire by wire process. I think the best thing to do is put the motor in and then start the wiring. I haven't even thought about the fuel system. Originally Posted by jahblah

Just an opinion of course, but I find it easier to do the harness before the engine goes in. Just allows much more access to routing wires on the engine. set PCM wire length, then mark the center of the engine on the harness at the back of the intake, do the same with the thirdgen harness, then merge them together making sure the mark for center of engine on both harnesses is lined up.

Lol yes my friend, the fuel system must be tackled. I ordered my fuel pump last week. Doing the AN lines conversion just seemed to complicated to me. This is not going to be a show car so braided lines weren't really an interest. I just want it to run. I think I will cut the 3rd gen hardlines back by the transmission well, then fuse the 4th gen lines there and run them up the firewall.Originally Posted by Strick1
