LSX swap question about ECU location

Ok people of TGO, I have a question. For those of you who have done an LS swap on your third gens, where are you locating your computers? I thought about removing the coolant reservoir tank and putting it there then getting a sweet looking aluminum reservoir to put by the radiator. My predicament even though I'm doing a swap, I would like to keep the engine bay accessories as factory as possible. I am using a factory 2002 camaro harness and computer.

So...where a how have some of you all located your computers? Is it too much of a headache to put it were the factory 92 ECU's were located? any wire extending required? is there a good place to tuck the computer without moving too much out of place and not having to extend wiring?

Thanks in advance for your replies!

Darryl

Re: LSX swap question about ECU location

The cleanest PCM mounting location I believe is in stock thirdgen placement under the dash. Lengthening wiring becomes manditory to put the PCM here with factory routing. Some guys have drilled a hole under the thirdgen heater box in the firewall, and out the PCM under the dash without lengthening too much wiring. Personally not a fan of putting a large hole in the firewall, but it is an option.

This is the direction I'm leaning toward. I have a hacked up 5.3 harness that I think I am going to rob wiring from that way the color codes match. Now I just have to figure out how to wire the cruise control in. I checked out the thread on how to do it and it seemed pretty straight forward.
