Reading wiring diagrams

Hello all,

Have a dumb question. I'm looking into rebuilding my wiring harness since its a Frankenstein mess of solder joints and shrink tubing. My question is what does the .8, .5, and .35 mean next to the color of the wire? I'm going to guess its the gauge of the wire after looking at some of the circuits, which brings me to my next question. What would those numbers mean in gauge? .35 = 22 gauge?
Example:

Thanks!

You're mostly right. Those numbers are the diameter of the wire in millimeters. The "gauge" numbering system is the American measurement system for wire diameter.

I'm not sure of the exact conversion off the top of my head, but a quick Google search should get you a conversion chart.

Re: Reading wiring diagrams

I found a few charts, but nothing was clean cut. I'll search again in a few and see if I find a chart that I like better. Thanks!
