93 LT1 in 92 Trans Am
This will kind of be an updated as I go build thread.. I may stumble and need help on my swap but that's what you guys are for! This is my 1st engine swap that I've ever attempted and the trickiest part will be the time restraints. This car is my DD so it will need to be complete start to finish in around a week. I will be ordering parts and waiting until everything that I need is here before I attempt the install. Ok, so let's get down to business...
I currently already have a 1993 lt1 w/ harness, computer.
My 92 t/a has the 700r4 already so I'm just going to use that for my transmission til I can afford a t56 swap.
I know I will need custom powersteering lines and fuel lines but not sure where to get them and what kind to get? (Pepboys, napa?) Maybe?
The stock 305 tbi fuel pump isn't strong enough for the lt1 so... Should I buy the whole tank from a 4th gen and swap it in or do I only need a tpi pump?
I will be getting a 4th gen dual fan radiator as well
Does anyone know how to convert the harnesses? I've looked on here but can't find any conversions with the 93 speed density..
Anyways, will be doing all new front suspension and brakes here soon as well.
Any help with the questions I have is greatly appreciated
I'll post as I go!

First, I'd line up a backup car invade the weeklong swap goes longer
Your biggest hurdle will be the harness. Read over the lt1 and ls1 harness builds to familiarize yourself with the basic process and read up on the particulars of the 92-92 system
3rd gen 4l60/700r4 internal harnesses are different from the lt1 4l60's. I'm unsure if a connector swap will suffice. Compare diagrams and make a decision
Why not go with a 95-99 4l60e with a later 94-95 PCM in the mean time? Newer trans are common and inexpensive compared to LSx styles
What are you doing for exhaust?

Re: 93 LT1 in 92 Trans Am
So far ive been gathering parts and waiting on cash to get the rest of the parts including a cam for the lt1 and getting the motor cleaned up. Most of my swap money will be coming next month when I get a bonus at work and will be able to really start haulin *** on this swap. Ive got the LT1 harness unloomed and laid out.. I started deleting AC and Emissions related items until I noticed I had cut the MAP sensor wires on accident because they were spliced in with EVAP grounds and a reference signal. I traced back the wires and labeled them at the ECM end for me to slice back together.. The under dash connectors and C100 have been depinned and labeled. I have removed the wiring harness from the LO3 motor and have unloomed it as well.. Im not sure where to start on it but im going to follow the instructions given in the Prepping 3rd gen harness article. The radiator and everything AC is out of the car.. Im waiting on my buddy to let me borrow his engine hoist again so I can pull the old engine out. The lt1 is on a stand waiting for some parts to get back from powdercoating and money for the cam, springs and rockers. Ive also decided to get longtubes and sell the mid lengths that I have now. POCKET I will probably need some help wth the wiring soon but I know your very educated on that topic. Will upload some pics soon!

I also read both diagrams from the LO3 and the LT1 and I should be able to swap the VSS and TCC connectors from the old harness because its the same transmission I think.. Its a speed density lt1 wired for a t56 but the ECM pinouts has info on where the auto wires would be if it had a 700r4.. Id really like to reuse the stock trans and keep it till it goes boom. Lol
Oh and btw this is my new account I cant seem to login to the other one.

Compare diagrams from a 90-92 Fbody and 93 Fbody to see what changes were made
I remember specifically having to change the internal harness when using a 93 4L60 in my 92. 3rd gens use a 4 pin connector where 93's used a 5 pin. Whether there was a ECM control change involved, I do not know
I try to avoid the 92-93 LT1 ECM as much as possible

Re: 93 LT1 in 92 Trans Am
Im gonna be using a 92 4l60.. I have the harness that came with the car and plugs directly into the trans.. only issues is the lt1 harness is for a manual.. I compared ecm pinouts. They both show the same amount of wires connecting into the computer.. Im at work right now so I cant remember which wires/colors exactly but im pretty sure it should work if I repin the ecm connectors. Ill check here in a bit.

POCKET you were right.. as always lol. The 93 4l60 uses a 5 wire connector and has valvebody differences, also heard it uses a different tailshaft... so im really not all that sure what to do now. Get a 93 trans or push my car off a cliff?
Re: 93 LT1 in 92 Trans Am
All I changed was the harness inside the trans
Best advice is to find someone with an alldata subscription and print out the auto trans diagram. Then compare it to this:

Hopefully you can graft a 3rd gen TCC connector to the 93 harness. Youll be modifying the harness to get rid of the T56 wiring already

I found this manual for a 92-93 harness that on page 6 tells you how to wire the connector for the trans and hooking the lockup to the brake switch. Should that work?

Re: 93 LT1 in 92 Trans Am
Followed the instructions on prepping 3rd gen harness and pretty much all is left is the C207, Fan and Fuel Pump relays, the C100 and some heavy gauge orange red and black wiring.. theres also a couple wires that are fused together with commons that im nervous to cut.. one I know comes off the c100 goes to the fuel pump relay and goes off somewhere else.. What fo I do with the relay wiring? Leave it attached to the c100 or seperate it?
Ill try to get some pics uploaded soon so you can see what im talking about. Alot less stressful having a few wires than that whole harness now tho!

Heres the common right next to the c100 and fuel pump relay. Should I cut it or leave it?
That picture is of what remains from the 3rd gen harness.. look close?
Anything you see that I can get rid of? I tried not to cut much that was connected to the C100.
