Why does my LQ4 look weird in my engine bay?

I'm using the Dirty Dingo EZ LS motor mounts here:

http://dirtydingo.com/store/index.php?cPath=1_354_324

...with Moroso's 3rd gen Camaro solid motor pads..

Here is the engine installed... looks weird as hell. I dont have a TH400 so I dont have a feel for where the engine is supposed to be but the motor mounts look strange as if there is too much gap between the pad bracket and the motor mount.
Is this supposed to be used with the stock clamshells ONLY? Or should I get a mockup TH400 and the below crossmember to line it up?

Since my car is backhalved, I am going to buy this TH400 trans crossmember:

EDIT:

Looks like I'll need stock clamshells.. I'll get some Energy Suspension mount pads..that should take care of it.

Engine is set forward way further than normal. The motor mounts on frame side are too narrow. You won't be able to tighten the thru-bolt without bending the engine mounts.

I'm rather surprised the oil pan even allowed the engine to go that far forward. What oil pan are you using?

Motor mount position for comparison. I'm using LS1 engine mounts.

I'm using the muscle car pan. (LH8 or L8..whatever its called).

A friend of mine has some energy suspension mounts that I'll use (pictured). So that should take care of the gap between the Dirty Dingo adapter and the mount pad. Since I cant put a bar or wood behind the engine to keep it level, I guess I'll need to get my trans crossmember and a junk TH400 that way I can line it up.

Ok...damn. Need some people to chime in..

Engine is about 5" away from the firewall. I have a TH400 and am using the stock crossmember. Where are you guys at in relation to the firewall?

Yeah

Grab your old SBC clamshells and bolt them to your solids. Take some steel plate, drill holes in it to match the LSx bolt pattern and bolt it to the block with about 5" excess pointed forward. Set it back in the car and adjust F/R to where you like it. Mark the location and tack weld the clamshells to the plates. If they still fit, weld them solid and redrill the holes the clamshells covered up

If you want an off the shelf part, get any of the 1" setback SBC adapters with SBC clamshells

Brain fart..

I had about 2" I could move the engine back so I did..then on the adapter..duh..my fault..loosen the bolts and the engine will slide back. So I did. Now my BMR th400 crossmember can be used..everything bolts up fine. Now I need to go back to the drawing board on the passenger side manifold.
