87 IROC and 95 Z28 what to swap?
I recently purchased a running and driving 95 z28. I have an 87 iroc which I have had for 17 years, and now am finally looking to put some serious effort into it. The iroc is a 5.7TPI which I converted to 5 speed several years ago. the 95 is a 5.7 LT1 6spd. I bought it for the tranny so that I could build up a motor for the IROC. So far I will pull trans and components required for the swap, I also have decided the LT1 is the better motor to build up so I will pull that out also with wiring and computer. What other items on the 95 are worth swapping over? Keep in mind the 95 without the motor and trans might be worth maybe $500 (it's in rough shape) and it needs an inspection to be plated because it's out of province (therefore putting iroc stuff into it is a waste of time - I will just sell separate) , so anything is fair game because I don't expect to get anything for it when I am done. My build is an ambitious one, 400rwhp so I am not sure if anything is worth swapping over in stock form. All suggestions welcome.

Seats, 4th gen seat swap is common
Rear end, what do you have, and what does the 95 have? IIRC the 6 speed Z28 had a 3.42 gear with option of posi

Some people have done 4th gen dash swaps into third gen cars.

The iroc has a 3.27 rear end, not too sure about the 95. Why driveshaft? Wheels are after market on 95 and are weak, the dash I want to keep stock.

Some of the 4th gen driveshafts are aluminum. If your 95 has one, then that's a good swap. Less weight, less turning mass, less vibrations,
I just looked in my info and I show 3.42 gears for the T56 '95 Z28, but your Iroc has the Borg warner 9 bolt which is probably stronger than the 7.625" 10 bolt.

All T56 cars were 3.42's which is a good thing with the second OD
9 bolts have a 6.75" ring gear, so I wouldnt chose one over a 10 bolt for strength. Both are pretty flimsy. I would use the 95's axle because its newer, better brakes and cheaper to service
400RWHP from a LT1 is a lofty goal
Nightrider covered the big things. Id add dual fans to the list. Skip the 4th gen radiator unless yours is toast. 3rd gens actually have a bigger cooling system than 4th gens
Just a tip, but use the 4th gen pedals with the 4th gen hydraulics. 3rd gen pedals work with effort, but you've got the whole car already
