Running an lt1 in 91 Z28 speedo and serial data question
Hello all. I swapped in an lt1 out of a 95 Camaro into my 1991 Z
Formally a tpi car. This was about 2 years ago. There are a couple of things wiring wise I never got figured out. The car has developed some gremlins and I would like to redo /complete my harness. I frankenstiened the lt1 and the Tpi harnesses together but I never got the speedometer working. Also the rad fan and the data wiring.
Basically can someone dumb down the wiring for where the PCM wires should connect on the tpi harness so I can plug in to the aldl and find out what the eff is going on with my car? I've been guessing and throwing money at it but really the solution may simple if I could scan it
Also I never did get my speedo working. There is no vss wiring to the pcm (cut this out by accident when I was cleaning up my wiring oops) and I'm not sure how to wire the PCM to my tpi Guage cluster to make it work
Also finally I'd like to get my rad fan working properly through the PCM (single fan) but I was never able to get this to work so I wired the rad fan relay to ign so it runs continuous
Thanks for any and all assistance. I'm going to pull the entire harness soon and hopefully get this all straightened out and redone. It's been "temporary for too long now

Alrighty
ALDL
Blue 30 TAN to C207 J ORN this is ALDL M

http://www.austinthirdgen.org/mkport..._data_link.jpg
Speedo
Black 8 DK GRN/WHT to C207 D GRY
Direct connection, no buffer box to worry about with TPI. Use any left over wire with a PCM terminal if this was cut out
Fan
Red 11 DK GRN to fan relay ground side of coil
This is the low speedo fan. If using a single fan, use this
Red 10 DK BLUE is high speed fan for dual fan cars
Any other questions, post them here and Ill answer them when Im in town

Hey pocket. Thank you very much for the reply. Sounds like what I'm looking for and I should be able to get her going for from there
The only thing I'm not to sure about in your reply is this
"Direct connection, no buffer box to worry about with TPI. Use any left over wire with a PCM terminal if this was cut out "
Not to sure what you mean by use any left over wire with a pcm
I'm going to try the connections as you stated and see what happens
What's your opinion of the consequences of driving without the vss connected. Could it cause backfiring /loss of spark/power ?(pcm doesn't know it's moving )

He means use a terminal/wire that you removed from one of the PCM connectors that isn't/wasn't being used. I.E. when you go through the connectors and "trim the fat" by removing the wires that aren't used. You should have saved them just in case.

I left all the cut wires with about 6" just in case as I was working my way through it when I did this swap so I should be able to splice it in. Just got to make some time for this and get on it
Thanks again

Just following up on this. I finally got around to double checking my wiring. Wired in my VSS and speedo. Perfect and my rad fan and serial data were wired correctly, I just don't know how to use a computer
Everything is coming along nicely and my data master and tuner cat programs are reading the pcm perfectly.
Thank you very much for the assist
