LS Swap question

So I've been reading a while and I want to see if I've got the general idea figured out. I have an engine harness out of an 01 Camaro and plan on using it on an 84 Z28 carbed car. So from what I've read it seems you fuse pink injector and coil wires and connect to 12v ignition source, connect orange wires to a constant, wire up relays, and it should run, correct?

Assuming that's right, I also am a little lost about what to do for gauges. I have an 85mph mechanical speedo and I don't want to re-use them. If anyone could help, I'd like to know if there are any tricks to wiring an LS1 cluster into my car or if it's pretty much plug and play. Also would like to know how to wire aftermarket gauges. Please use simple terms. I'm by no means an expert lol. Thanks.

Edit: Also plan on using LS1 plastic tank so if anyone could help me with wiring on the pump, evap, and fuel level sensor I'd appreciate it

Re: LS Swap question

Yes searching helps but there's alot of stuff to dig through and the search here isn't as good as Google lol. As far as gauges I'd go to speedhut.com. Fully customizable, made in America and lifetime warranty.

I bought a new harness from a member on here. His name is Pocket. He is the guru on here.

There is also whole 4th gen dash swaps on here you can look into but definitely look at the swap stickie. That answers most of everything. The rest feel free to ask!

Welcome to tgo!

Thanks for your input. I really appreciate it. I've lurked TGO for a good while and I have also read pockets thread along with a few others. Information is just a little cluttered in some places and it's hard to get answers to some more specific questions without asking yourself. I feel like I have enough of a grasp of the engine harness to rework it myself. I just wanted to make sure I was reading the information correct.

I plan on keeping the third gen dash and not using a bcm. I guess what I was really curious about is if 4th gens just have a connector that connects the cluster to the pcm and if I decided to go after market how do I get past the whole serial data deal to separate signals for temp, oil pressure (I think), etc.

And lastly what I have to wire to use a 4th gen tank.

I've searched both here and ls1tech and I can't seem to find the specific answer I'm looking for on those subjects.
