LS1 tuning options overseas

Hello,

I just finished up my LS1/T56 swap on my 91. It runs great in open loop, but last week I finally got the right O2 sensors and plugged them in and the car was undrivable. I unplugged them and it runs great again. I have zero emissions equipment on the car, and no rear O2's. I'm thinking this is causing the car to go into limp mode.

The engine is basically stock other than the Racing innovation 1 3/4 hearders and 3" exhaust.

I have 2 PCMs and I'm considering doing mail order tuning with Hawks, but they want $300, which is cheap in the tuning world, but was wondering if anyone here had some other scenarios for me.

Thanks, Ken

Ken- Tuning can be tricky. Lots of knowledge on the forum, so you should get some pretty good advice.
Here's my experience:
First a mail order tune from a good outfit, but not specializing in our cars. Car ran, but would load up plugs- regularly. Turned off all the right electronic switches (e.g., 2 O2 sensors, also), but not a good tune. Then 2 different folks doing dyno tunes. First was only so-so. I then found someone else who did a great job.

My take would be Hawks deals with these cars all the time. They should know what to do to get them running decently.

Thanks for the reply Flip,

I probably will take Hawks up on their offer since I'm sure they are very expierenced in this matter. What sucks is I knew a couple of guys out here that were getting pretty decent at tuning with HP, but they both got orders back for the states last year.
