89 GTA LQ4/T56 swap
Hey everyone. Starting up my swap thread so I have one more thing to keep me going with this. The car is a 89 GTA L98 car. Headgasket blew in 2014 and that's when I decided on a total swap and restoration. Well over a year later, i'm finally doing something about it. And my goal is to drive it at least once this year.
I'm going to hold of on the restoration part of it, and just get it running and driving for now. Otherwise it'll be years before its done. I am at a toss-up on if I should fix the floors and pinch welds or not while doing the swap, but I think i'll be ok.
i'll get pictures of how it's sitting and the progress soon hopefully

First things first, what do I do with this rust? These are shots of the radiator support, driver and passenger floors, and pinch welds. Sorry the pics aren't the best. Is this something I should repair first? I have intentions to, but I just want to get the swap done.

If it were my car that sheet metal and rust would be attended to first. The core support doesn't look bad but your driver side foot well bracing, both pinch welds, and front fender mount at the pinch seem seriously mangled and in need of a LOT of attention. Yes the restoration can wait till after the engine but there is a lot of physical work that the car needs that is better done now before the engine.
