5.3 tight fit: Coil rubbing on passenger side

5.3 tight fit: Coil rubbing on passenger side

Before I get underway, big shout out to Pocket/Jon. Guy does amazing work and is a genius when it comes to our cars! He made me a custom C100 Harness to mate to my LS1 harness in my 1987 Trans Am. His prices are affordable and he delivers a professional product!

So I got an 5.3 with a GTO LS6 Intake manifold. I have truck coils and I have the #8 coil (if I recall) rubbing the HVAC black box against the firewall. I didn’t get a picture, but I had to unbolt the coil.

I’ve been searching and searching the forums and I recall special bracketry someone made where that single coil was up about 3 inches higher in the row. For the life of me, I cant seems to find anything.

All of the brackets I see when searching are relocation brackets of sorts that relocate the whole row.

Any suggestions out there? I saw someone bough some LT1 wires due to the extra length needed. Is there any single coil brackets that might work?

It might have been mine that you remember.

Just give the welder the picture showing instructions, the bracket, one coil, and the valve cover. Can't go wrong if they have all the parts for fitment. It takes a pretty observant eye to even notice it was moved once installed in car.

Thank you Sir. Outstanding build by the way!

All the pics are blocked here at work, so I'll have to take a look at this post when I get home. I appreciate the insight!

I just relocated by last coil by midifying the stock bracket to raise and rotate the coil. You'll need a welder to do this one..

Slick. I like it. Did you have enough slack to run the stock spark plug wire?

Yes, stock wire still works.
