6.0 question
Hey all just had a quick question. Currently I'm about 95 ish% done with my 5.3 swap. It drives but needs a few bugs worked out. Anyways a friend of a friend has a service van roughly 200k miles on the 6.0 and a 4l80 trans. I thought I read somewhere that some of the 6.0's had a longer crank for some years. I was told the van was early 2000s. Just wanted to make sure I don't have to buy extra parts to make it work if maybe I'm crazy and I didn't read about the longer crank.
I can get this thing for scrap price is why I'm asking. I originally went with a 5.3 because I could get them for around 350$ anything else was 1500. But if I can get this 6.0 and make it work, I might actually be ahead this time. Haha
As always thanks for the insight

Re: 6.0 question
Just get it as a spare motor just in case. It couldn't hurt to rebuild it yourself and leave it in the back of the garage.
Plus with a little muscle you can make that 4l80 fit

Re: 6.0 question
I'm running a 4l60e right now. Didn't know if I needed a spacer at all of it was a longer crank. I do plan on rebuilding it and swapping it in as my 5.3 is all stock minus cam. And I went with a bigger cam with the idea of going with a 6.0 later.
As far as putting in the 4l80. Idk if I want that headache as running exhaust is rough as it is for me lol. Nobody around me wants to run the exhaust.

Re: 6.0 question
Looks like just 99 had the longer crank. Also, doesn't matter if it's 60 or 80, both bolts up with no spacer. Just when using th350/400.
Agree with others, definitely get the 80. Always sell it later down the road if not using.

Re: 6.0 question
Thanks guys. I remembered reading about the longer crank but didnt remember the rest. As far as the van goes, I was told scrap price. It runs and drives just has high miles and the company bought new vans. A 6.0 from the junk yard goes for around 1000 same with the 4l80. So I'll keep the 6.0 and sell the trans. Plus scrapping the van will put me ahead of the game.
If everything goes as planned I'll take some pictures this time.
