LS swap, am i mising anything?
LS swap, am i mising anything?
this is my first post so i hope it's in the right spot. basically im wrapping up my ls swap and just want to back board what i did with everyone to make sure i didnt miss anything. ill also start out by saying my build is about 5yrs in the making since i was in the service when i started and its kindof made things more difficult being gone months at a time. that being said...
i have what i think is an 05 5.3 i couldnt find the exact year and that was marked on the head in paint pen with a tremec t56. i have the motor and the trans mounted in the car. i have all the sensors in except i broke reverse lockout, coolant temp snsr, and oil press sending unit. i bought a bp automotive wiring harness since the one i pinned myself was lost over the years. all of this makes sense and is fine with me. my questions start at the exhaust manifolds. i bought a set of 4th gen manifolds and they have 3 or 4 flanges for egr things which i plan to block also the passenger side does not have a receptacle for an o2 sensor, so
question 1 will my car run with no o2 sensors and those egr flanges open long enough for me to drive to an exhaust shop?
question 2 my bottom fan mounts seemed to have been glued on at some point and have broken off, is there anything to fix this or just rig it? it seems like its just a plastic mount.
question 3 i bought a lokar throttle cable but it is long as f**k. the best way ive found to cut cable is wrapped in duct tape and a cutting wheel, is there a better way?
last question, i have motor and trans in. motor has starter, headers, spark plugs, coil packs, sensors, and intake manifold. trans is in using third gen iron driveshaft with stock rear end, fuel pump wil be switched to walbro 255 and i have a line flare tool to make lines with filter/regulator and from what i understand you run lines to filter then t block and send return back to pump.
my main question is am i missing anything obvious? like i said i'm paranoid, so sorry

Re: LS swap, am i mising anything?
You will need the front o2 sensors in order for the ecm to function correctly in closed loop, unless you are tuning for open loop only, and or if you are running a carb set up. Im not real sure on what to do for the fans without seeing it, so possibly just fab something up to keep them in place. I know some had luck using the lokar cable, but the throttle cable out of an 98-99 non traction control z28 or trans am works really well. gm part#12565559, you will just have to make something up for it to clip into the firewall. I used a fender washer and drilled holes around the outside and used that for it to clip into the firewall based off of info off this site, and it works well. Do you have the brackets and front drive accessories, ie water pump, power steering and alternator? that's what sticks out as far as missing anything. I cant think of anything else off the top of my head but im sure others will chime in.

Are y'all moving the fuel filter/regulator? I tried to install it on the stock bracket and the an fittings were too long, I tried to put some washers under it to no avail
