Road Trip Home with new Camaro

NewI bought it off Craig's list 11 days ago and finally got to see it in person a little after midnight Sat morning/Friday night? I bought it in Marietta Ga and I'm taking it home to Martinsburg WV. Besides a little rust on the Diff and suspension ( no body rust) it seems to be really clean. The nose is scratched up a little but what Z doesn't have a rough nose? I might? replace the carpet but I don't think it really needs it. Maybe if I enter it in car shows with my pickup I might replace the carpet. I'll keep my first post short. Glad to be a part of 3rd Gen.org

Re: Road Trip Home with new Camaro

I have a question for ya'll. This car came with documentation showing it to be the display car at the 25th Anniversary Celebration at the Mc Cormick Place exposition Hall in Chicago Ill on Feb 7, 1992. I have a picture with it setting on the stage and a big 25th Anniv. cake setting on it. The picture was taken with an Illinois Camaro club standing in front of it. Is it possible this was the "Official" press conference by Chevrolet? The letter gives a contact in the Public Relations Office of the Chevrolet Motor Division. I'll have to scann all of this info in and post the pictures. Tell me what ya'll think. Thanks

Re: Road Trip Home with new Camaro

the camaro looks very very good right now. i'd like to see it stay that way. it appears that you got a little crazy with a jc whitney catalog with your truck, keep the lund sitck-on scoops and stuff to the ricers...don't do that with the camaro.

Re: Road Trip Home with new Camaro

Ouch!!! Yeah my truck is a bolt on affair. I AM in the market for a "real" aftermarket ramair hood. But, to quell your fears, I plan on leaving this car as close to stock as possible. The stereo might be a different story and who knows if a stroker motor goes in it. But.... that is to be determined later. My truck was a "custom" show truck that I drove everyday. (Of course with all bolt ons, I made sure to keep all of the stock pieces and can ut it back to that condition any time.) This is going to be a nice original that peeps in the area can look back and remember tha good old days.

Sweet heritage you got there. A Heritage Z28 Convertible is really rare and yours looks like its in great shape...take care of it and welcome to the club!

Re: Road Trip Home with new Camaro

I finally got time to really check out all of the documents that came with the car. Not only did it come with the original window sticker (MSR $24962.00) but it has 2? build sheets. One is what we've all seen for build sheets. It looks like the other is printed on the big folder computer paper. My guess this is the breakdown for the factory of the codes of all of the parts needed for this car. I promise I'll scan all of this stuff.
I did find a couple of other interesting things here. He purchased a 75K mile extended warranty. Think it's still good? Also it seem he traded in his 92 Pontiac Bonneville for this Camaro. His Pont had 726 miles on it and he got $17412 trade in on it but he still owed $16800. Total selling price was $26383.81. He financed it for 60 months at $550.91 a month. Final price after interest.....$34166.60. Ok got to go to work.

Re: Road Trip Home with new Camaro

Currently shows 57K. I had a problem with the odometer when I picked the car up. I went to reset the trip meter before leaving Atlanta. I had put 15 miles on it 14.8 to be exact. When I pushed in on the reset button it moved really hard and since the odometer hasn't worked. The speedo is still working. Could I have just gotten a gear partly out of line? I'm not sure if I should start looking for another speedo of break into this one to fiddle with the gears. If I did get another would a 140 mph speedo work in mine? It has a 110 mph in it now.

Re: Road Trip Home with new Camaro

The 145 will work. There are a couple of places you can send the 145 cluster to and they will correctly adjust the miles on that odometer to match your 110 cluster.

I have a hardtop 91 Z and a t-top 91 Z. Now if I can find a clean vert like your's........
