Im going to Ozzfest in Dallas Saturday and I won a backstage meet and greet pass with metallica...Should I take something from my IROC to have signed or should i just get an album signed.....Hey afterall this is the best car of the 80s and Metallica is the best band to come out of the 80s. What do you guys think? Maybe a sun visor or somethin?

 

hmm, I personally say Poison is the best 80's band but I won't get started lol
but yea I'd bring a car part or something, be different then everyone else. I think it'd be cool to have metallica sign the bezel around the radio and AC controls, maybe like a silver sharpie or something.

 

hey well I do like poison too...so i wont try to argue i should have put best band from the 80s IMO lol o well.... im havin second thoughts about a car part cause it has to be small enough to keep with me during the concert and im afraid of maybe wrecking the car or it catchin fire or getin stolen and all the other crap that happens to cars.....its gonna be bad enough if some unlucky SOB ever hits my car cause if its their fault i might just go to jail and if my autograph got hurt along with my IROC....wow i just dont want to be sitting on texas death row for my actions lol...."temporary insanity your honor" better yet "crime of passion" lol o well i got a few days to figure this one out....

 

hey when you see them. tell them to start making some real music again. personally and justice for all is my favorite album. they where legends back then.

 

Awesome prize. It would be cool to meet Metallica. I would bring your favorite CD cover and your driverside sun visor. I like the idea of a silver sharpie. I think the band would get a kick out of signing your sun visor. I would also get pictures taken when they are signing the visor as proof later.

I think Metallica is one of the best bands ever and getting a chance to meet them would be fun.

I'm not going to lie, A7X needs to go back to what they were doing originally. When they first appeared, it was straight up hardcore punk, now they are trying to milk the poser metalheads for all their parents money. They have talent, but they aren't a real band anymore, just a business...

Back to Metallica... a console lid or a Sun Visor would be the best thing. Something small, simple, easy to take off and put back in and possibly change into another third gen one of these days if something were to ever happen to your's... knock on wood.

 

hey man i kinda like the idea of the consol lid also. I would take a part to get signed. Personally im more of a A7X fan than metallica fan. I like disappear, enter sandman, and a few others. But A7X is my favorite band. I mean like who you wish i like them both but to my A7X is better

I have to disagree with this one. If Metallica should pass the torch to anyone it should be TRIVIUM. (kirisute gomen anyone?)They are BY FAR the best new band out there today.
But I have to say that NO ONE is a bigger Metallica fan than I was as a kid. There is NOTHING about The bay area bashers that I didn't know.
But to keep this thirdgen related I would have to say if you could get away with it your air cleaner would be an awesome signature piece.

In Metallica's defense There new stuff from what I have heard is the **** So I have high hopes.

 

I agree with both of these statements. Although Rob is a great bassist it just doesn't "feel" the same without Jason. Albeit he was in the band longer than any other of their bassists including Cliff (15 years). But Cliff was God so with him there is NO comparison.

Air cleaner lid is also a good one, although a bit big to carry around during the show. I met a Corvette owner who got Zora Duntov to sign his air cleaner lid. That was a really cool autograph.

One thing that bugs me and it has bothered me for a long time is the whole "hatin" on Metallica band wagon. Sure Load and Reload weren't their best ( I really like Load actually) and There are only a few songs off of St. Anger I really like. ( St. Anger, S.K.O.M , Unnamed feeling and Frantic.) But really to me it seems like it's the "trendy" thing to do to bash them. If it wasn't for Metallica most of the bands you see today would probably sound like STYX, Journey, Bon Jovi or Boston (that would suck MAJOR *****) So people please show some respect. People grow and change. As a musician myself (Been a Metal drummer for over ten years) Playing the same crap over and over just gets stale and boring. You absolutely HAVE to change things up abit or you'll end up in a rut like AC/DC (Brian johnson years not Bon scott)and Iron Maiden (which I love) making the same album over and over again.

Anyways hows about them signing a grill? that would be pretty ****.

 

Am I the only one that realizes that nobody mentioned Ozzy?!?! The best band of the 80's was easily Ozzy Osbourne before the death of Randy... even after his untimely passing Ozzy's band always kicked *** through out the 80's despite who was on lead guitar... you know.. when back when Ozzy was still sort of with it..

 

Honestly I would take an album or something that you would keep inside. Don't have metallica autograph a part of your car. We don't want to further the stereotypes...lol

The idiot comment was unneeded. As for A7X, they are without a doubt the new Metallica. Listen to their rythms, their solo's, their drum lines, all can be interchanged for various years of Metallicas albums. But you being close minded probably wouldn't make that connection, and as for the emo remark, go to an A7X show and say that. Bet you leave crying. I've been to the Summer Sanitarium tour, in Giants Stadium, where the floor was covered in Diamond plate to keep us from thrashing the grass, and honestly? Slipknot and their masks put on a better show than Metallica. They are out of their element now. And I still love most of their stuff. As for A7X, well.... they have better stage presence indeed. Saw S&M too, at MSG, and btw, one of the best concerts I've ever seen live. Period. Get a CD cover signed, and then frame it air tight so the ink doesn't fade over time bro.

I completely agree, Avenged Sevenfold sucks, they won't ever have the same following that metallica had, or still has. Every time I hear that stupid *** bat song " I tryeieie..." reminds me of how popular whiney *** singing has become because of these "nu metal"/emo bands. I put them up there with fall out boy, Yeah the drummer kicks some *** but the lead singer sounds like someone just kicked him in the nuts.
