Like I said before.. I cant stand the hood. Lets get some pictures of it outside...
Re: Rate my camaro Please
That silly paint job tells me you're under 25 years old. Since you asked for my opinion, I'm sorry but the paint looks rediculous. IMO flames of any kind do not belong on a 3rd gen and those flames look especially ungly. I know you're young and you want to mod up your Maro but I think they look best subtle and clean. Oh, and finish that interior before you ask to be rated.
Good luck and have fun.

Looks like you had a lot of fun painting your car. Quite artistic, but not my choice either. I do love the colors you used. Don't know why a 'maro dash would not have sufficed. Camaro fan all the way.

Yea im not a fan of that paint either, but still looks like the person who did it new what they were doing. I also dont think that dash belongs in a camaro. if its a 1-5 thing id say 2. I think if it was black with black z06 rims that would look BA.

Just a heads up, I didn't do the paint or the dash. I kinda liked the Camaro dash better. I just bought it monday :P.

This car is really a "to each his own" deal, where you picked out the paint job you liked, and chances are only a few people are going to agree on if it looks good or not. Honestly with out the air-brush work I'd have given it a 4 or 5 since it looked great stock with a nice engine.

Re: Rate my camaro Please
I gave it a 1. Not to be mean or harsh, but the car really needs to be 100% finished before we are asked to rate it. The stock wheels look way out of place, all of the lights up front need to be replaced as they are all foggy and faded looking. They don't look right with such a glossy paint job, which brings me to my next point. Some people can get away with flames on a 3rd gen. I've seen some really slick flame jobs on 3rd gens, but I'm not digging this one much. The skull ruins the whole package for me, especially with the gold tooth.
The interior needs to be as custom as the exterior to really get a higher rating. A stock looking interior (having a Firebird dash and a new cd/dvd player isn't modifying the interior) with that flashy paint job just doesn't set right with me, as most others I expect.
Don't get me wrong, it's got some potential, but you really should think about finishing it with some flashy chrome wheels and a race ready interior before asking us to vote on it. And nothing in this post is meant to bash you or the car in any way. I am simply expressing my opinion, which is what you asked for when you started the thread.

nice car.
i said 3 because its got a 350 TPI engine, which is always nice.
as long as ut runs good i dont see why you shouldnt keep it for a long time.
just get it repainted before you bring it out in public.
if it were me, id get a can of brake fluid and wash my car with it...

You have some big ones putting this guestion out there. I am another of the old farts that thinks this is a "little much" for my taste. However, it is obvious you either have some painting talent and/or some deep pockets. Bottom line, it is your car and what you think about is what is most important. If you even change your mind in the future, it is just paint that can be re-done.

dont like the paint. dont like the tires, they are stock. dont like the interior.
but
the body is in good shape. the interior is very clean and if you like firebird interiors it is put in well. the parts are in good shape.
at least its not a camaro rat rod.
if you like it, that is all that counts.

Re: Rate my camaro Please
JTNKTZ, you forgot to mention the purchase price and that you didn't do it yourself.
I saw your thread the other day on the convertables board, and for the money I'd say you got a decent deal. I still say get the skull thing painted over and keep the flames for awhile and see if they grow on you. It's kinda cool but looks kinda like a tshirt bought from an airbrush place in the mall....in 1988. I guess at least it's pretty "period correct."
Overall I say 3.5 because it's clean and straight, has a 350, a T-5, wheels look good and is a 'vert. I like the 'bird dash but maybe over time gut it and use those holes for some autometer gauges to make it justified. Also, I'd stay away from the 10 pt. cage, i just think it'll look goofy. Maybe just a roll hoop or nothing at all (the odds of flipping it are low, these cars handle great and are pretty wide and low). I've had my 'bird sideways, spinning and sliding and never did I think it was coming close to going over. The suburban on the other hand......

The car itself looks great, but yeah, the flames are a little over the top. Hats off to the airbrush artist, though, the design is exectued wonderfully, but it doesn't go with the car at all. I like the firebird dash...in a Firebird, it just doesn't fit the camaro body at all. I give it a solid 3.

Re: Rate my camaro Please
Not to bash your car, but if you were looking into flames you should have gone with a subtle blue ghost flame job instead of this extravagant design. I have to give credit to the guy who did the design though, it does look good...just not on a third gen. Flames coming out of the front tires never has made any sense to me considering these cars are rwd, but to each their own.
As for the interior, get rid of the dash and drop in a camaro dash. If you want to do something a bit different, then go with a fourth gen CAMARO dash.
If you were willing and able to spend money on that paint job, then you should be able to drop in some nice chrome wheels to set off the car. Good luck with the rest of the build. Keep us posted.

Re: Rate my camaro Please
Please read... HE DIDN'T PAINT THE CAR. It has been said that he got the car that way for a good price, even with the paint so if he gets tired of it and wants to do a respray he may still be in the car good. As far as the dash, it looks ok, yes the camaro dash would be better but not that big of a deal. Lose the ghetto skull with the gold tooth and rock some nice wheels and it would def. be unique. Not my taste but it is unique.

Not too bad. Like most have said, not really digging the paint job. It's a bit over the top, but you seem to take pride in it, so I will rate it as a 3.
The car seems to be in good shape, and that is the important thing! There are too many shitty looking thirdgens running around that no one gives a rat's *** about. Keep up the good work.

OK, Im sorry but I gotta ask. Who in their right mind would sell that car for the price you bought it at? Granted the paint and dash really arent too my liking but still. And secondly at 16 where do you come up with that money to buy the car on top of owning another camaro? Just been wondering. Id rate it a 2. What its got goin for it is its a vert, V8 5spd, and appears to be pretty straight. However, the dash and mostly the paint just kills it for me. But to each his own, enjoy the car

Yeah new wheels... fo sho! If there is a way to get rid of the tooth, the rest is ok if you put some nice over the top wheels on it then it would look good... if thats your thing.
For 16 you do have a nice car. My first car at 16 was a powder blue cavalier station wagon so don't sweat it. You will take a lot of hatin though b/c it is so... um... unique... yeah thats the word!
Enjoy it and keep it between the lines.

Re: Rate my camaro Please
I thought it had a full paint job blue with the air brush job, but I guess they buffed out a stock paint job and air brushed over that (based on the front lip.) Either way, it's not a bad car for a young guy starting out and it leaves room for improvement so you can learn as you build and apply your own personal touches to it.
Nice street by the way, my best friend and I grew up on a dead end street and I can't tell you how many times the local authority had to show up to stop us from using it as a drag strip, or doing donuts / burnouts at the circle.

I don't live in the circle unfortunately, I am like 2 houses down. But me and some friends bring our 1:5 scale R/C buggys over in the trails (4th picture down in the background). It's a blast.
I don't want to spend too much money on rims. I was thinking about getting my current ones chrome dipped. What do you guys think? Would it be worth it?

The flames are not my style, that blue is amazing on the car. At sixteen i wish i had a car like that but guess i can't complain because when i was in school i was the only sixteen year old with a car even if it was my grandfather's 85 impala.

Re: Rate my camaro Please

IMO you could have paid to fix the front lip, bought new rims and have had a MUCH better looking car for less than you prob paid for that paint job!
but whatever dude, if the flame/dead rapper skull do it for you that's cool.
as for the rims, since you went with such an outrageous paint job it's going to make everything stock on the car look horribly out of place. chrome dipping those wheels will be a complete waste since they're still going to look out of place afterward (even more so since they'll be extra shiny and catch the eye ha).
save up some, pick out a *nice* pair of aftermarket or late model wheels (nice as in clean and complementary to the lines of the car, you might want to post up another poll to get some help from the members here BEFORE making another questionable styling decision) and keep going from there.
for future reference, if you're going to do a wild custom paint job, the rest of the car should really be done at the same time or before. I'm not a fan of that look, but a car that's consistently style looks better than mix and matched (aka crazy custom paint on an otherwise completely stock car).
and lastly, for a couple years from now when you decide to sell or repaint the car as your tastes change/mature....(insert non-existent "I told you so" smiley here)

Now maybe you should read the ENTIRE thread before you start opening your mouth like a 2 year old. I not only said that i JUST bought the car AS IT STANDS but also said that I was NOT that big of a fan of the paint either so I don't need your pointless and meaningless negative comments. So what you don't like the paint, say that and that only you don't have to mock it.
Second of all how dare you mock the IDEA I had for MY rims. I'm SOOOOO glad that you are made of money and can buy Z06 rims direct from Corvette. Props to you bud! But at 16 and only working 20 hours a week WITH school money kinda comes along hard especially with that whole insurance thing (120 a month).
Third of all for future reference, I will not nor do I need post a poll on whether or not what to buy. It is MY car and I will do what ever the hell I want to it. MY name is on the pink slip NOT yours. I can put spare tires all around my car and I could give a **** about what you think.
And FINALLY, don't post, reply, offer, message, or so ever LOOK at my topics anymore. I don't need peice of **** like you too help me out.
Sincerely,
Justin

Re: Rate my camaro Please
Come on guys. Give him a break.
Honestly, I like this maro. I like it when people think out of the box, and do a decent job of it.
The only thing I don't like about the paint is the color choice used, and the density of flames. If I was to do it (And actually considered it when I saw it) I'd do a black base with red flames, and thin them out a tad. That would look BA. Also whoever had the car painted like that should have had the skull have a meaner look to it and lose the gold tooth. That makes it look a bit wtf.
And a paint job has nothing to do with how old you are. Far too often do I see older car modders who have had their personalities mellow out over the years and start cracking jokes about the same things they would have done at that age. It's all about taste, not age.
I actually do like the dash a bit. I'm a bigger fan of the Camaro gauge pod because you don't have to look halfway across the car to get a reading on something, but It's nice to see someone being creative with their ThirdGen for a change. I really am getting bored with all these "Keep it stock" cars and 4th gen swaps TBH. Look too lame/modern.
It's all about keeping the ride looking oldschool muscle with a bit of a mean streak to it.
Overall, good job man. 4 stars.
BTW bud, those are nice head units. I have the Jensen VM9512 in my 85 Z28.

Lots of talent here.....but I think that the reason it doesn't quite succeed is the color! I think the same flames would look much more impressive on a red car. Sky Blue is too weak a color to sustain this paint sceme....just my op...

How much did you pay for the car? Its not my style btw, but the corvette wheels would mke it look better.

2600 for the car 50 for the rims and tires. They are not put on though cause I need spacers. I ended up getting C5 Rims.

For the price you paid, you could have the entire thing sanded and resprayed, and still come out ahead vs. what a 305 5-speed car in that shape would have cost you. It deserves five based on that alone.
