Well, I finally did it. I wrecked my Pretty much mint 92 RS. Actually happened a while ago, but i never got around to posting about it. I was driving this road we call the nature drive. Been a few years since i'd last really driven on it, and well apparently it's been a few years since it's gotten any road work. It's a long, 10 mile dead end to the eagle river nature center (Alaska) Going there was a piece of cake, coming back not so much. Going pretty fast, it was dark, and the road got REAL bumpy real fast. I don't remember much about what happened (the adrenaline kicked in, and it was going kinda fast..) but here's the gist
My old suspension, plus my incompetence behind the real, and i was bumping up and down, left and right like I had hydraulics. Got to a sharp left, but i got to far the right and ended up with my right wheels in the dirt. That caused me to skid back on to the road. Tried to straighten it out, but endeded up drifting a bit facing the right of the road way. The tailend kicked out the right, i started facing left now. Overcorrected and sent my self into a 180* spin. Some how I'm going backwords now, and i finally loose all hope of saving it and just slam the breaks.
I complete the turn into a 360* and am kind of slowing down. Well too bad i was about off the road. I went down into a ditch on the left of the road and straight into a tree. The car ended up between two, supported by a big tree in the front and a small thing on the left that kept me from being able to open my door. Friends climbed out, and i followed after sitting there for minutes going "wow....I am the biggest dumbass ever
" To describe the setting, it was like crawling up a hill, but slanted trying to get through the passenger window. My mom has a mitsubishi raider, i called her and she came to pull me out the ditch.
We had a BITCH time hooking the car up, it was almost impossible to get under it, and then trying to find something to hook the tow straps too was difficulot. It looked like pulling it out was gonna **** up the rear bumber, and when my mom did get me out i heard the most God awful sound. I thought my bumper had ripped off. But i kept going and soon was out the ditch and on the road. Somehow i don't know what the **** happened but i ended up off the hook and almost reversed back into the damn ditch. Didn't (Thank God! ><) But i did get stuck. She pulled me out, and i drove the car home. Eventually the right font blew, and i had to limp to a safe spot to park her for the next three nights
I thought i'd pretty much totaled it, but the damage ended up not being bad at all. Somehow the beast front end wasn't bent at all. Just the license plate, and the paint looked ripped off. I thought the door would be ****ed up, but even the little side (impact?) strip was undamaged. Just scratched up. The left front fender did get dented. Just above the wheel. And I got the strangest dent, just check the pics. i think it was the bad sound i heard when i got pulled out the ditch.
Well, it's currently waiting in my garage untill i can get four fresh ones, and take it to a mechanic to get it checked out for road-worthiness. I got a lot of plans, and am gonna use the chance to get the respray I've been wanting. First things first though, the tires, and a mint body job.
Pics i took about a mile from the original spot, the next day.

Slow down Speed Gonzales. Hah, doesn't look too bad, have you checked under the car? The transmission coolant lines on these cars tend to crack very easily if you even bottom out a bit, like I did in my driveway.
Good luck with getting her back on the road, should be pretty easy.

Sounds like it could have been a lot worse...
Glad your okay, but get to fixin it!

where she currently awaits. The right front is going flat. It was a spare. I was amazed after the crash and the tire blew to find it still in there. I'm worried there might be complications with it staying tilted like that for too long. Hopefully will get two fronts real quick to address that problem. I'm thinking cooper cobras

And in the future. Arctic white.
That looks very fixable. Just make sure the rad support and frame rails are good, and you can just bolt on new parts.
