Like those D-window wheels, they're like my soft 8's.

You should lose the RS hood and grill, though.

rs hood is pretty nice, i went cowl because i have a tbi but if you were looking to hold off before paint i'd invest in a functional ss-hood, good ram-air idea

re: Tyler's project Thread

Because it's an RS exclusive grill, and when I look at the pic of your car, it just screams: "I'm an RS not an IROC!" lol. Your car, your style. My opinion is just that they should all look like what they are, an RS shouldn't have an IROC hood, etc...

true, but then again im not even sure if its a true IROC, it IS a z28 i was TOLD it was an iroc z28 and with the drive train it has its beleivable, taht being said it IS all original, to teh point where it still has those shity OEM hose clamps wich tells me no ones even been inside the motor,

what grill is the 85 IROC suposed to have?

it HAD an iroc hood but i swaped it for my RS hood cuz the iroc hood was in bad shape

It should have had the grill with the openings in the sides that read 'CAMARO' in the center. It also should have had foglights in the openings.

re: Tyler's project Thread

yea, just really shocked as to how rust free she is, there isnt any, if tehre is i cant find it, and that shes still all orginal, must have been taken car of for sumone not to have even been inside the motor. she runs GREAT, well did till the MAF sensor went bad 2 days ago lol, what i think hapened was previous owner bought it to finish a diff camaro, cuz interior is miss macthed and all teh clips and stuff are gone so it seems lik he just threw together interior for it so it was complete so he could sell it to the kid i got it from, which drove it dailly till i bought it

she has power like new, its suprising that the 305 has power, thrash on it from a dead stop and shes sideways all the way down my street, i really wish i knew exactly which 305 it is so i kno what hp shes rated at, all i kno is that its TPI and a 700r4 trans

shouldn't there be an option code on the glove box lid (center console). I think the dash plaque says iroc-z under the z-28 emblem also (depending on year maybe). If it is an iroc, i would restore it to the iroc look!! Decals, rims, hood and stripes!!

Your choice though! Also I think IROC's in 85 had a factory wonderbar, that's what I got mine off of.

re: Tyler's project Thread

Look in the console at the RPO code list, if its still there. If it is look for rpo code B4Z. If its there then you have a IROC-Z. It looks like its got the IROC valve covers. The iroc's had valve covers with the groves, like the ones on your car. Z28's had the regular smooth style valve covers. Also look for a wonder bar. It bolts up under the front sway bar. Only iroc's came with them. If its an IROC I would put it back stock, but hey its your car. Keep us posted.

If the rpo codes are in the console, there will be a vin # on the top. See if it matches your vin on the car.

If the car was two-tone it's a Z28. All Z28s were two-tone until Z28 was dropped in 88. You have a TPI Z28. with 2.73 gears. The 85 TPI IROC has 3.23 gears but there are few 5.0 H.O. CARB IROC(215hp) that came with a T5 trans with 3.42 gears.

yea the rear is blown but because my dailly quit on me im driving this one to and from work, 1 hour trip each way down highway, just babying it kind anot pushing it to hard, so far everyone said it should b fine for a while, it makes NO noise or anything, just only gets power to right wheel like an open 10 bolt does

ive used it, basically cleans out your engine, you run it through the brake line booster through a funnel. cleans your carb out aswell.

Re: Tyler's project Thread

Going thru the booster hose just cleans soot/grime from intake and around valves. You poor some in the oil to help with sludge and in the take to help with fuel system. I guess if you use too much in the oil and run it too long like that it could thin the oil out a lot...Anyway, congrats on the Z! I would still bring it back close to original style w/ more power! Good luck.

Re: Tyler's project Thread

yea the plans are EITHER black with silver stripe and iroc z on the door just like factory or the russet red, (burgundy metalic flake) with gold iroc z decal set

since the car is all original except teh interior im just going with black interior since whats in it is clean i just need front carpet and consol sides which i AM getting very very soon,

as far as engine and trans? its the orig tpi 305 so i just wana beef it up a little, want 300hp outa it or close to it but wana keep it dailyable, teh 700r4 is gna get a rebuild with a shift kit, looking for a stock geared or 4.10 or 3.08 posi rear for it, it has 2.73s factory with dics but its blown, now its a one legger lmao

adjustable pan hard bar and all that stuff for the back end, and ya kno the suport from the rear to the trans cross member? its going and im getttin the kind that bolts to the floor of the car so instead of pushing on the trans member its on the whole car

THATS the general idea i have

CAN NOT DECIDE ON A COLOR THO! HELP!

black or russet red?

IM GUESING this was it factory, since its a Z28 not a true iroc, and it was maroon and apears maybe gold on the botom then repainted solid maroon and now primer all b4 i got it,

this is the black look i was thinking about

this is the red

OR BLUE?

Re: Tyler's project Thread

I personally like all those colors especially the red because it's what I have. You should seriously go with black with red Iroc decals. Trust me it looks SICK!!!! So do black with red Iroc decals.
