PROJECT PANDA
Just bought my first thirdgen Camaro after wanting one since I was a kid. 83 Z28. Body is in pretty good shape for 172k miles. Fiberglass hood came with it. Other notes: 305, T5 trans (on my 2nd already), pretty stock everywhere else. The biggest problem I'm fighting with this car is the previous owner decided for whatever reason that the steering column was no good. Everything associated with it is rigged up. Not being a genius when it comes to wiring all I can do at this point is sit back, laugh, and not drive the car when it rains.
My plans:
Turn this into a weekend kind of car. No practical use as a daily driver.
Power:
Have enough go to have some fun with but not be overly aggressive. Planning on the whole "350, .030 over etc etc" route. Possibly a T56 but that part is way down on the list.
Interior:
VERY minimalistic. Two seats and just enough to know what the car is doing. That being said first thing on my list is to gut it. The interior is wrecked anyways and I plan on replacing most of it.
Body:
This was the biggest selling point on the car for me. Body is pretty straight. It's had its work before me, but I'm planning on doing this the RIGHT way. Sandblast every panel down to bare metal and start over. I actually like the color scheme on it but it could be done better. Also planning on blacking some of the trim out. Spoiler and the ground effects. 92 Nose possibly, not 100% yet.
Suspension: Haven't really decided yet. I'm open to ideas, though. Wider tires are a good possibility, but no idea how wide I want to go.

Transmission: to restore
Axle/Gears: and enjoy
Re: PROJECT PANDA
Sounds like a fun project, I certainly wouldn't call it a restoration though. Just curious, what do you mean by "gut" the interior? Remove it all and replace it, or just remove it all and stick some seats back in it?

Re: PROJECT PANDA
Remove everything, clean it up, put back just the essentials. I haven't decided 100% what all is staying and going yet. The interior is pretty rough. Typical stuff though: cracked dash panel, door handles broken on the top, etc.

Re: PROJECT PANDA
A good bit of time and money are already going into the car. List of parts bought:
*92 Nose to include center grill, but GFX in unusable condition
*Complete 92 right side GFX
*Left side 92 GFX. needs door piece
*Rear Bumper Cover for the GFX
*Left and Right Front 1/4 GFX
*Tilt steering column. The one in the car wiggles so much it is almost scary to drive. Not to mention the horrible wiring all starts with the column. The column I pulled came with a stock wheel, but I'll be installing a nice aftermarket one. There's a nice one in the LMC catalog for my truck that looks like it will look great. #38-1193 if anyone is interested. Page 28.
*New rear spoiler to work off of. I plan on extending it by roughly an inch. The duraflex one I've seen on ebay (and read the bad reviews about on here) seem too tall, but the stock one seems too short.
Nothing has been installed yet. I haven't had time or motivation to get it done just yet. Pulled parts off of two different donor cars.
I've also changed ideas on going with a custom black interior. Lots of custom pieces. Shorter, metal console, reglassed dash, racing style seats, no rear seat, I could go on. Pics of some of the new goodies linked below.
