83 Z28...to mod or not?
Ok, I already know what people are going to say... it's your car and do what you want. Just looking for a general opinion.
I've got this 83 Z28 that I got a smoking deal on 8 months ago. Bought it for $2600. Has 90k on the clock right now. It was a one owner car has some small mods done to it, but nothing major. 4th gen T/A seats have been installed. An Edelbrock open air element with a K&N filter and a billet grill overlayed over the stock grill. A/C was converted to modern stuff. Smog pump and lines were pulled out. Last thing is the factory radio was replaced and I added a small amp and sub in the trunk. Thats all that was done.
Stock rims, stock exhaust (even has factory mufflers intact, no crossflow here)
Everything is in great shape and Im torn 50/50 on messing with it. It runs great with no issues. Has a minor oil leak, but not bad enough to hit the ground...driveway stays clean and oil stays pretty much full. To me 90k on it without getting torn up and ratted out is virtually unheard of.. at least of all the cars Ive looked at.
Id only be doing a few things... full exhaust, maybe a mild L98 type cam. Upgraded ignition. Right now Im getting close to 17mpg in city driving. Id like to stay around that, or if possible improve that figure while gaining some power.
Like I said at the start... I know its my car to do what I want... just looking for some other views. This is the best condition 3rd gen Ive owned and I really dont want to mess it up.

I say light mods are ok in your case as the car has been played with some or you could get some stock seats, take the system out and go for the all stock looks. IMO exhaust on a V8 is always a fun cool mod to do. My exhaust was a temp set up that I have left all summer and might keep for awhile as I like how it sounds for the most parts and others like it too.

Yeah the exhaust was the part I wanted the most anyhow. The seats are certainly staying... waaay more comfortable than 3rd gen seats. Actually had a few people ask if they were stock since the rest of the car is so well kept.
Light mods sound like the way to go... at least until the motor finally gives out on it, then a 350 block will take its place.

Do some tasteful "stock looking" mods. Upgraded brakes, cam, heads, exhaust w/cat, frame connectors, speakers, same wheels better tires, lower gears posi, shift kit. Then do alot of restoring. New paint, seals bushings ect.

Ok, I'm not following how this would fall under history or originality if you are going to mod it. I guess I'll move it!!!

Sorry about that Scott. Thought maybe originality since the question was to keep it original or not. Took a guess and got it wrong. Oops.
