Picked up this nice 87 Iroc...

I've had a couple 3rd Gen TA's, but this is my first Camaro. It's an 87 Iroc with the 350 and 27xxx miles. It was listed on the forum for sale. Think I paid too much, but it's a sharp looking car. All original except for a Flowcrapper catback and it feels like a cheapy B&M shift kit was installed. Only plans right now are install a new y-pipe(original cracked), fix the AC, look into what shift kit is in there and either remove it or replace with a Transgo unit, and a good paint buff/detail job. Let me know what you think and what it might be worth....

Re: Picked up this nice 87 Iroc...

Nice Find, Looks like a very nice car! Prices on these cars are all over the place so its hard to really say what its worth. I would guess some where in the 7-10k range. It mostly depends on condition, looks like its in great shape but there are always small details that you can only see in person.

I've looked at some thirdgens in the 10k range that I wouldn't give 5k for....and I've seen some in the 4-7k range that were very nice cars....a very wide range of prices and condition on these cars right now for some reason.

That car looks mint. I'd say it's worth maybe 6 to 8 thousand...?

Would you mind telling us how much you paid?

Re: Picked up this nice 87 Iroc...

Seller was asking $xxxxx, but we obviously negotiated down from there. The interior is pristine. Paint has a few, very small rock chips on the nose/hood. Suspension has surface rust on it. In it's current state, I was thinking it might be worth xxxxx. I paid more than that though. Oh well, it's done now. Hopefully I'll correct all the negative things about the car over the winter.

I took it for a short ride and was surprised at how many looks the car got. Maybe nice 3rd gens are finally gaining some respect!

If you had the money, I don't think you over paid for it. You don't see many cars in that condition, and it sometimes takes a lot more to get them in that condition. It's a beautiful car!

Re: Picked up this nice 87 Iroc...

I've seen similar low mileage IROC's listed for over $10K. They seem to be selling for $7K to $10K, depending on the details of the condition. I think $8K to $9K wouldn't be too much for that car, it's quite nice.

Re: Picked up this nice 87 Iroc...

A car is worth what you would pay for it. You have found a very nice, clean survivor. I probably over paid for mine when I bought it, but, I don't care, It's mine. You have a nice car to either restore back original with very little effort, or add a few custom touches. What ever you do with it, enjoy it.

Super nice car, the only reason I would not buy it is it's not a T-top car. I think it's about $7-8.5 is a good range as it's super clean and low mileage.

Re: Picked up this nice 87 Iroc...

Everybody is undervaluing this car. It's a low mile car. Cars like this would sell at a collector auction in the $15k range, give or take a thousand. You got a really good deal on a car that some will say is the ultimate IROC-Z. Many people believe that the '87 model year is the best to have for many reasons.

You stole this car, if you bought it for less than $10k. The rest of these estimates are what you'd expect from cars with over 50k miles.

good deal in my book... try buying one that needs work and youd spend way more then that to get u to where your car already is, and has such low mileage, u cant get that back

Looks like the same color as my '87 Iroc dark red metallic, only mine had Medium gray cloth interior & it was the 5.0 Carb LG4, last year for them. It was slow with stock 2.73s but it was too much fun being my first Camaro. I regret selling it.

Thanks for the feedback.

I have $xxxx in it so far. Bought a Mac Y-pipe and a little lever that the heater temp cable attaches to. Also bought new seat belt buttons. The originals looked pink instead of red.

Thanks a bunch for the pic of the carpet sample! Makes sense since the rpo codes show DK CARMINE for interior cloth and trim.
