paint troubles
paint troubles
HI everyone! Got a question some of you gurus maybe able to help me with..
I am About to "rescue" a 1992 RS Camaro from a guy that painted it white..with spraying cans...from walmart..... Yea.. (IT was originally BLACK). Anyways i was going to see if anyone here knew a good way to take the "spray can" paint off the original colour... Or what would be my easiest way of taking it off.. I AM on a budget, but ifbpush comes to shove ill wait until next year and repaint it from bare bones..
ALL INFO AND THOUGHTS GREATLY APPRECIATED! !
Thanks for your time.

Re: paint troubles
If it was sprayed on top of clear with no sanding...could wet sand and buff out. maybe a hella work, but cheap approach.

Re: paint troubles
Your wasting your time trying to “only” remove the rattle can paint with out breaking through the clear/base and primer. You might have to strip it down to bare metal so save your money and do it right the first time.Any thing from a decent paint job to a top of the line is all about the prep. and the base you start with.

Re: paint troubles
If i bare bone the car i am going to repaint it with a triple coat of clear coat to make it last longer.
(Thinking of either white or midnight blue)
Ill post a pic of what the car looks like now.

Re: paint troubles
What's really unfortunate is that some on this board will say that it doesn't look too bad the way it is now!! I've not stripped paint, but will aircraft stripper work?
