My first time posting here. This site is such a wealth of information. I wanted to share a little anecdote of my camaro's I had in high school.
1998-I turn 17, parents buy me a 1986, v6 Camaro for 1k. Put a cheap white Maaco paint job on it. Definitely had some girls in it for the three months I had it. I wrapped it around a small pole in the rain. Have you ever seen a 6'2 football player cry? It happened that day.
I then bought a 80's low mileage Malibu for rely cheap. Get nailed by an uninsured driver. My insurance kicks in and get double my money back.
I use that money and save for a few months. Then in 1999, I purchased a 1987 5.7 Iroc. It was stock yellow with gold interior. T-tops, auto-dimmer mirror. I paid $4,000. This was my true love. I had so much fun (needed new tires after quite a bit of burn outs). My girlfriend at the time loved my camaro so much that when she turned 17 she had her dad buy her a 92 green RS (which she ruined soon after when she hit a pole in the rain).
2001- going back to college three hours away. Had to sell for something with better gas mileage and could make the trip. My iroc would shut down on a long trip and wouldn't restart until it cooled down. I resold it for $4,000 to another young guy and his father.
I still miss that car. Now that I'm 34 and I'm getting a good salary. I want another Camaro. Just have to convince the wife. She says I have to wait till after the birth of our third child (we're not pregnant yet) and she's done her maternity leave. So the end of 2016/2017 will be the year of TheCheese.
