Clunking from reverse to drive, also whines on deceleration
I lowered my car using Vogtland springs and founders upper relocation pan hard bar, adjustable pan hard bar, adjustable tractions bars and traction bar relocation brackets. My question is now after changing all that and getting the axle centered w/ the pan hard bar along with centered in the wheel well. My axle is now clunking from reverse to drive. I did change the gear oil while I was under. I used 80-90 lucas with additive, since it's a posi eaton unit. It also whines only when I let off the gas. I'd say between 45-20. What would cause this to all of the sudden happen? Otherwise the diff. is fine. Any help would be great. Thanks
I have a pretty good idea that the whining is the pinion gear but would like some opinions. The Clunking maybe the torque arm bushing. I know after getting it all aligned properly and with it being 26yrs old there will be some play but it sounds like it is coming from the diff area.

Check the torque arm busing... if it's stock, then probably done...
The poly energy suspension ones work good, but be sure to get the right one... There are 2 to choose from, essentially, the stock stamped piece came in 2 flavors.. one the edge is facing the driver side, the other, the edge is facing the passenger side, so 2 mounts to pick from.
Also, check trans mount... Napa has a high quality rubber on, it's around $15, but much better than any of the Anchor / DEA other ones...

Did the whine start after you lowered the car or was it there before? if it wasnt there before then it is something with all your changes.
As said before check your torque are bushings as well as your trans mount for the clunk reason. As for the whine, just make sure your pinion angle is ok. It might not be far enough out to create a vibration, but may cause a noise. Your pinion angle and trans output angle should be the exactly the same, or at least within 0.25 degree.

It whined before but not as noticable. If your not paying attention you wouldn't catch it whining I'm using the stock torque arm. I've ordered the bushing for the torque arm. After looking at it more up close. There's a decent amount of gap. So that would explain the clunking in the pocket sound. Sofakindom helped figure out the whining. Thanks for everyone's help. This forum has some really great people who like to help out not so confedent decisions making for getting the right parts. I figured as much for the parts or had a hunch of the culprits.

From the pinion bearing going bad. I'm gonna do it right and rebuild the whole rear, since the car is original minus the few upgraded suspension parts, etc.
