My 92 RS that only has 52k on the chassis has seen years of neglect, vandalism, and just the crappy primer/basecoat bond the teal paint has always had, and I finally decided to do something about it. I ordered 3M Atomic Teal which is similar to the factory teal and wrapped it over the past few weekends. It looks like a whole new car now.
Nice work! ....did you put any seams in the front and rear bumpers? Up on the roof anywhere? FIgure with a 60" roll, there's likely a seam up there somewhere, right? Looks like you did a great job. Good is easy, but a really nice job takes some time and patience. Little practice and skill doesn't hurt either.
Yea I tried to to the buckets and rear bumper without seems but it was impossible. The buckets are their own pieces and the rear bumper sides are separate too. The roof also has seems at the A and B pillars just because of maximum material width like you pointed out. Overall though it is immensely better than it was, and a solid 10 footer. Plus my mom works at a sign company and got me the vinyl at cost so it was way cheaper to body work and wrap vs the 1600 in primer, base, and clear.
Yup. I've been in the sign business since '95. I've considered wrapping too. The irony is the more I've worked on my current 88, the less I care! Kinda grown fond of the faded and peeling clear, lol! ...it'll get paint somday I guess. That being said, I have few cool old school kinda racing liveries I've though about wrapping it with so who knows. Anyhow, nice work!
