Restoring an 85 that sat in a field for 10 years. (1year in)
This car was owned by my brother in-law since he was 16. It broke down one day and then sat in a field for 10yrs (2013-2023)
It was in real rough shape inside and out. Mold, mildew, mice, you name it
I brought it to my grandparents house and first thing I did was scrub every inch of that interior. I found 8 rats nests in it and a free pocket knife.
My grandfather and I then pulled the motor, stripped it, and rebuilt it. After a new cam, lifters, and a LOT of TLC we rebuilt the motor (kinda surprised it runs)
Now after a year and 1700$ in were making some good progress. She runs, but driving is still another year or two out. With the motor rebuilt, next is a service of the rest of the drivetrain, along with an entirely rebuilt brake system.
