86' T/A RUST !!!!!!

I just got my T/A running for the first time, after about twenty minutes I noticed smoke coming out from behind the valve cover. I jumped into removing the upper engine and valve covers. Everything from the manifold and up is either polished, primed and painted, or replaced. Added all new gaskets and o-rings and started to install. Then the OCD in me came out and I decided to remove everything on the front engine and also rebuild. I'm in the process of grinding the rust off my pumps and pulleys. I wanted to also remove all rust from the timing chain cover and front of block without removing any more parts. I was hoping someone could tell me if Naval Jelly would do the trick. Already used cleaner and a wire brush to remove surface debri. Heres a couple pics of front engine.

Have you tried a Dremel tool with the little wire wheel? It has come in handy many times for me. Something like Eastwood rust converter/encapsulator might work too (after the Dremel), but I'm not sure about it holding up to the heat from the engine.

Yeah I have an arsenal of dremel and power drill attachments, Im using those to resurface several parts. I was just hoping there would be some good chems to give me a good start. Yeah my dremel has been my best friend on detailed areas.

I bought a gallon of B9 chem dip and soaked my throttle body for 24 hours, it came out factory clean making it easy to polish. If they had something like that I could spray on my block and let sit.

Pretty good end result using a wire wheel, then prime and paint. Not to sure about my color choices, probably wont till I reassemble everything else.
