Freshly buffed GTA.

So on Saturday I finally went and got some 6" lambswool buffing pads for my buffer. I used 3 coats of Meguiars Swirl X on the hood, and one on the rest of the car. Then I put one coat of liquid glass on the whole car. Then after I removed it with rags, I put on a fresh buffing pad and dry buffed it. The results were AWESOME! In direct sunlight the swirl marks are very minimal. This was even the first time I used a buffer! it looks like it was just painted, better than that even. Not bad for a 16 year old huh?

I also took off all of the wheels and cleaned them up. Some yo yo before me painted the calipers some weird yellow color, so I painted all of them black. I painted all of the wheel wells black again too.

Re: Freshly buffed GTA.

Thanks alot man! I am going to be 17 in a month and have had the car for about a year. I baby it beyond belief. I never have taken it to school (never will), Never done a burn out in it, it only gets premium gas and full synthetic oil, and its washed every 3 or 4 days. Hell I don't even think I have taken it above 90MPH. I love it to death.

Nice that is a very clean car. Awesome buffing job....shiney deep black paint jobs are one of my favorite on a car. Just such a pain to keep up though.

Re: Freshly buffed GTA.

Hey man AWESOME lookin GTA. Black looks great when its freshly detailed!

One thought though...I babied my first Camaro (a 92 RS Heritage 305 w/ 45k miles) to death and one day I was in a very unfortunate accident when I was 17 and it got totaled. Afterwards, I almost regretted never driving it hard or seeing what is was made of (i seldomly ever took it above 2000RPM). Now with my Heritage Z28, I still baby it, never drive it in the rain, detail it frequently, park it in the back of parking lots, etc...but I'm not afraid to do a nice 0-60 sprint or get into it alittle bit to feel the torque. As long as your not racing it or neutral-bombing it, these cars can definately handle it. Just something to keep in mind...

Re: Freshly buffed GTA.

Man, I drive mine hard pretty often. Not everyday though. My car is a lemon though...
Engine bent a rod at 68,XXX miles
Rear-end started slipping at 80,XXX miles
Transmission slipping at 82,XXX miles...

Engine Replaced with everything in my sig. Rebuilt my rear, but it is going out again... Transmission replaced with one out of a burned down GTA with 65,XXX miles... My car today has 85,XXX miles... It wasn't even that abused. I don't beat on it too bad, but the amount of time I spend working on it, I may as well...

Re: Freshly buffed GTA.

I do every once in a while get on it a little. But before I have confidence in gettin on it whenever, I want to get the rear diff, and tranny serviced. God knows how long its been since they have been done. I want to flush the coolant too.

It's a nice looking car alright.

My only advice is to eventually get the fiberglass reproduction spoiler. But that's just my .

Re: Freshly buffed GTA.

yup, I have one on backorder. I have to wait now 5 or 6 weeks for one. I have a regular glass hatch in my basement waiting to be painted and put on as well. The notchback that is on it has some pretty extensive fiberglass sun related damage. I was told it would cost over $1000 to fix it right. I like the regular hatch better too, so its a win win. I will be keeping the notchback with the car though because I realize it is a collectors item.

You must be on the same list I'm on at Hawk's then.

I didn't even notice you had a notchback on there, that explains the regular spoiler.
