My '86 T/A - Spring Updates!
Hey guys, just crossed the last item off my spring to-do list this past week, so I figured I'd show you guys what I've been working on this year!
I started making a list and hoarding parts since I parked my bird last winter, and as soon as spring rolled around I started to work on the old girl. My number 1 priority was clearing up my car's start up smoking issue. I replaced valve guides (twice unfortunately due to not having the proper tools the 1st attempt) and that seems to have done the trick. Then it needed a new set of tires so I splurged and bought a pair of Goodrich 225/50's for the front and 255's for the back.
Then replaced my old broken transmission mount which used to make a loud bang under sudden acceleration and bought a new starter after the old one let me down. After that I started to work on the cosmetic changes. I got tired of the all black look and constant Knight Rider references, so I decided to add a few things to make it better reflect my personality. I found a mint pair of tail lights off ebay to replace my faded ones, bought a new Flowmaster 80 Series exhaust and a matching set of 2nd gen splitter tips, repainted my wheels and then I ordered some decals (including the hood bird
) from phoenix graphics. Installed them without any issues amazingly! haha
And to top it off I love RWL tires but you can't find any 16'' tires with white letters. I also love my crosslaces too much to get rid of them so I had to get creative. I didn't like the tire paint route so while searching online I found a site that offers RWL kits! You can read more about it including a full review in my other thread: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/whee...ml#post5584519
So here's the result of all this work and dollars! lol

It's not perfect and there's still more things I need to do to it, but I'm proud to say she's running great and I did all the work myself with the huge help from my dad. Without him I wouldn't even have this car right now. It was great working together with him on it. I've been dreaming about owning this car and planning this exact look in my head since I was 5 years old, and being 22 now this is honestly a major goal in my life which I have now achieved. Thanks for everything pop!
Thanks for looking!

Nice work. The splitter tips are a great touch...
