Suspension Overhaul Question(s)
My car, like many here is a big project, and yesterday, I was checking out different websites for aftermarket suspension stuff. So far, I've found these parts:
Bilstein Sport shocks/struts
Eibach Sportline Lowering Springs
Hotchkis Subframe Connector
Hotchkis Strut Tower Brace
Hotchkis Rear Suspension Package
-Lower Trailing Arms
-LTA Hardware
-Adjustable Panhard Bar
I know that isn't everything that I want to upgrade in my suspension, cause I still need F/R sway bars. My question is what parts have I left out? I would just like to have an idea of what I am able to upgrade in the front and rear suspension, even if I decide not to do it. Are there Upper Trailing Arms, Upper/Lower Control Arms, etc... and what part of the suspension (F/R) are they? That's the kinda thing I'm looking for. Secondly, I'd like to ask people who have already used aftermarket suspension parts, which they chose and how they like them. Opinions would be great here. Sorry for the badgering and thanks in advance for any help.

Most of our cars have high miles on them,so a complete front end rebuild is a good idea. New ball joints, center links, idler arm and tie rods should be replaced. Pay the little bit extra and get Moog parts so ya never have to worry about it again. Polyuretane bushings from energy suspension are what I would recommend along with their end links and sway bar bushings. I have the Bilstein shocks/struts and the Eibach pro kit springs and I love the combo. Fair ride and good performance. I think the sportline is for more show than go. For the lower control arms, panhard bar and sub frame connectors I would say go with Steve Spohn. His parts are top notch quality and priced very fair. Also check out his LCA relocation brakets that he sales, its a good mod also.

That sounds pretty good. I was looking at Spohn's site earlier today, and saw pretty much all I want to install to make my car handle well. I also got hooked on the aftermarket T-56 and the 12 bolt rear that he has for sale. But that's another project entirely!
As for the springs, I say the Sportline just cause that's all that showed up when I did an application search for the '82-'92 F-bod. But if proline work, then sweet. And you say Moog parts for the front end rebuild?? Other than that, I think I'll go to Spohn, that is when I get the money, somehow.

I'm in the process of doing exactly what you're trying to do, and just got a set of Eibach Pro-Kit springs. They're PN 3801.140. I got them from Discount Tires for $248.50 shipped. That's one of the lowest prices I've seen for these springs.

Sweet, thanks for that info. I know I've got an Eibach dealer within 5 minutes of my house, so that's where I'll probably get the springs, unless the price is too high. But I was expecting like $350. And on the Eibach website, it says the Prokit springs will only drop my car 1 inch front and back. I have a stock V6 and the front wheel well gap is pretty nasty looking. Will 1" be enough of a drop for me? But I am planning on swapping a V8, so what the hell, sounds good to me.

If forward acceleration is a concern at all, you should think about upgrading your torque arm also. The relocation brackets will help your acceleration too. For subframe connectors, I wouldn't waste my time with "bolt-ons". "Weld ons" well be much more rigid.

Yeah, I've finally formulated a final plan so here goes.
Front end rebuild using the Super Polygraphite Front End Rebuild Kit from PST
As far as general all around suspension goes, I'm planning on the Eibach Pro-Kit springs, Spohn F/R swaybars, and Spohn Subframe connectors.
Front suspension will include Spohn A-Arms when they become avaliable, Bilstein sport struts, Hotchkis Strut Tower Brace, and an IROC wonderbar.
Rear suspension will include Spohn LCA's, Spohn LCA relocation brackets, Bilstein Sport shocks, Spohn Panhard Bar, and Spohn Torque arm.
I may wait on the torque arm cause I'm hoping in the future to be getting a T-56 swap in there, so I'd have to change to a different one anyhow. But after finally doing some of my own reading I was able to compile this list of stuff to do.

Sillywabbit,
You can get a kit of Eibach pro-kit springs/tokico shocks/struts for $417 at
www.groupawheels.com
Buying the kit saves you $200. If bought separate about $200 for Eibachs and $400 for shocks/struts.
They have cool wheels at that site also. They are very knowledgeable on third gen camaros.
Have fun,
Craig

You should look into the Kenny Brown strut tower brace also. It is a three point as opposed to the Hotchkis two point. It ties the brace into the firewall as it's third mounting point. I put it on my car and it made a huge difference in handling. www.kennybrown.com

DannyT, PST stands for Performance Suspension Technology. They manufacture a TON of suspension parts, and they're pretty reasonably priced. Check them out! www.p-s-t.com
