Stock Radio Interchangability, QUIK HELP!!!

ok guys, are all units interchangable,
like will a 91 pont firebird delco unit go into an 88 firebird. because the 88 lights up red} that has a seperate power switch..the one you are displaying, has the power on the vol. ****

It will not work as it is right now. I think it is either in '89 or '90 that the stock Delco radios in GM cars went from 12 pin connectors to 21 pin connectors (not totally sure about that but there IS a difference in the connectors). If you want to buy an adapter, or start cutting wires and studying wiring diagrams a lot, you can get it to work. For all the trouble, its not worth it especially for a stock cassette radio. The stock radios in other GM vehicles are all the same (Delco) , so it shouldn't be hard to find the right one on ebay or in a junkyard. When i bought my car it had a Pioneer CD radio in it but the faceplate was missing (making it pretty much useless) so I ended up putting a Delco cassette radio w/EQ i pulled out of an '86 Oldsmobile at a local wrecking yard. Works fine too.

88 was the first year for the new harness, but any radio from a GM will fit with some minor adaptation to the wiring harness. I had a 95 T/A Cassette player in my 84 Firebird, I just had to change around some wiring. But the 88 to 91 is a straight bolt in.
