Tough Times..
First off, I've been a member of this forum and owner of an F-body for a few years now. I've had to let my Camaro rest for the last year while taking over payments on my brother's truck after he passed.
I recently found that a coworker of mine has cervical cancer. She is the sweetest person, and does not deserve this burden. She doesn't exactly have anyone she can count on for help, short of a few of us from work.
I'd do anything for this woman.
She was even forced to hold off treatment for months because she didn't have insurance through our employer when she was diagnosed.
Right now shes allocating all her money to paying off deductibles, and can't afford to fix her car. It doesn't go above 35mph, and is very unreliable.
She has to maintain 30+ hrs a week to keep her insurance and pay bills, so she's making the daily commute to work, and a coworker is currently taking her for weekly chemo and radiation treatments -- which are at 2 different locations.
We work in the food service/catering industry, so needless to say money isn't growing on trees, but we'd really like to give her one less thing to worry about. This was actually my manager's idea that I'm pretty much rolling with: To get my camaro to pass inspection and have her drive it so long as she needs it.
If you read the above, thanks.
The F-body really doesn't need a lot of TLC, only a few things you folks could help with.
For it to pass inspection, it only needs a new windshield and battery.
For it to be reliable long-term, it needs brakes, tune up, transmission/coolant flush (see previous threads of my radiator problems), and the gas tank needs to be tweaked and straps tightened (see fuel pump threads).
I can understand how you might read this and think of it being a scam, but it's not. There are a few of us willing to pay to get the above taken care of, but as it sits now, it's got expired tags and inspection. If you, or anyone you know has used parts available, or even a mechanic who can help her out, please contact me.
Ideally, we'd like to get the basic things taken care of in the next few weeks. But to tell the truth, we've kept this plan from her. She's not the kind of person to willingly accept something like this, but she really needs a helping hand right now.
I'm not sure what else to say. I'm in central Virginia. Thanks.

Re: Tough Times..
You should contact Chesterfield Auto Parts on day and talk to manager. Could proably get a windshield. I have a 65 month battery that is 12 months old in my Firebird, you can have it if you get everything else. Dont want it going to waste.

Re: Tough Times..
Sorry it's been so long. haven't exactly had time to provide an update.
Had a windshield put in last week and the car currently sits in my uncle's garage. Hopefully he checks it out and tweaks the gas tank soon, so we can get it to her asap.
I only wish I had offered to pay him to install this energy suspension master bushing kit that's been sitting in my shed for the last year.
Things are looking good, and I appreciate the responses. I'll try to snap some pics of the car cleaned/waxed with a big 'ole ribbon on top.
