Newbie-Hello!
Hey all, great site! Gotta love all the codes & stats on the main page, very helpful.
I'm not a newbie to 3rd gen F-bodies (owned 82Z, 83Z, 85Z, 87 Bird, 91Z) but I have been away from them for a while playing on my 2nd gen. I'm wanting another 3rd gen bad. Right now I have a couple spare engines laying around & they need a home
One is the 383 currently in my 80Z, runs 11.70's at 118mph. The other is a stroker 4.3 I did to replace the 383, estimate it should take the 80 to 11.50 or better (dont ask, its a monster). The goal here would be a decent street/strip cruiser, just something I can enjoy driving and running the occasional bracket race.
Anyway, I'm looking at a 89RS right now. It has a 2.8 with a blown engine. Would this be a decent starting point, or should I look for a Z28 with better suspension? The thing that really stands out is its 100% stock, not butchered up at all. Things like fuel systems, trannys & rear ends dont really matter because they would all have to be changed. I'd like a non t-top car, but they never seem to pop up.
Check out some of my junk if ya want-
