From Ill-noise? I'm IN Ill-noise. I'm from Wisconsin. (Actually, from a womb, but you get the idea - Might be the same thing?)

Currently camping dead-center on the northern state line. Stoplights? Yeah, we've got ONE of those about 4 miles north of me - And a "Christmas Tree" about 8 miles south of me, right under the nuke plant cooling towers.

Capron just plain sucks.
McHenry is trying to be Crystal Lake junior only with worse traffic.
What color's your GTA? Digital Dash? Maybe it used to be mine.

Capron sounds like Coral, I drive thru there (Coral that is) on 20 going to Marengo every weekend. You go clear across town in under a minute at 45MPH, no lights. Hell, even Marengo with it's 6K+ people has only one stop light - at 20 & 23. Garden Prairie is another one like Capron & Coral, no lights etc.

I know Coral. Pretty much is the same as Capron. Although we are actually supposed to only drive through at 35mph.
It is surprising that Marengo has only 1 stop light. At least they have a McDonald's. Here in Capron all we have is a Rosa's pizza. Their pizza sucks.
Why would you want to drive to Marengo?

pmpnavt - I checked out your ride at your profile. Nice. I take it you don't drive it much.
Not my GTA after all. I was the second owner. Red car tan interior. Electrical gremlins out the wazzoo. Do you knw a guy in McHenry that occasionally drives around in a black 78 TA?

I've got friends & my g/f out in Marengo. I can't stand McDonalds, so I usually end up driving down to TA at I90 to get me some Burger King, lol. Or Subway right in town too...

Hebron. Just north of Harvard on 173? Even closer. They have a flashing light? I thought it was just a stop sign. I only go through there once in a while if I have a job up that way.

I usually go on Friday nights. They don't have tech inspection on fridays cause it's not a bracket night, it's just grudge/headsup racing. I like it alot better cause you can make as many runs as you want and typically line up with whoever you want to.

Y'know, I've seen an A-Team style van before, it was a mid-to-late-90's Chevy cargo van. I tried to snap a pic, but it came out pretty blurry I saw it at the oil place by Jewel & Arby's at Oakton & Mannheim.

Not quite what I meant but funny.
A Team is supposed to be a performance type shop somewhere down in DesPlaines. I have a friend who had a 572 truck pulling motor assembled down there. Supposedly they do a good job. I'm not so sure though since he spun a bearing.

Ahh, alright. I haven't heard of it, but I haven't done any serious performance work on cars/trucks before. The only place I really know of is called "Altitude Performance" or some such thing, they do 4x4's and off-road stuff. Kinda funny for Des Plaines, haha. Most of the trucks in their lot are well above legal limits too (frame, bumper, plate, lights, everything) but at least they look sweet I hate Illi lift laws, they're too low. I took the plastic bumper off my otherwise-stock Ranger Edge (I know, boo ford) and now my front bumper is already above legal limits! Oh well, I don't think any cop is gonna care about 2-3" above on a stock truck. Pic...

Dixon IL.

Life out here is a lot less congested than the burbs. I grew up in Plainfield, moved outa there in 89 and every time I go back to Naperville to visit a friend and go to the "Dog House" (Portillo's), I instantly remember why I left... too much traffic.

Thats about what I've read on various sites online. Most cops either don't know it, or maybe don't care until your bumper is above the trunks of regular cars And of course theres always the IL law of "no modified exhaust systems" that went into effect sometime last year - can't be louder than stock. What a crock that is!

Re: Whos from Illinois around here?

Hey Vic, what year is your 9R? I just noticed it under your name, lol. I've got an 05 6R/636 myself, had since new and I've only put 1280 miles on it. Mostly b/c my plate was lost/stolen Aug 05 and I didn't receive a replacement from this shytehole state until I think Jul 06! And by then it was already expired.

Re: Whos from Illinois around here?

i went right on past a few of you guys last night with my brother on the way to and from chicago from down here, along I-55

again

we go up there a few times a month

about 2.5 hours trip one way, closer to 3 actually

the new exhaust law yeah event the locals are crazy on exhaust how it cant be anything but stock and yadda yadda

but you never get ticketed, just warned

they are real stupid on about exhaust

seems to be the biggest thing, other than glass cracks, and seatbelts and registration lights being out

good luck

That used to be Plainfield. Did they change the city limits or something?

Years ago I worked in the shop at the Truck Stop right there at I-55 and 30. "The Joliet I-55 Auto Truck Plaza". What a dump that place was. Its been remodled since then. Its still the "Yuck Stop".

I try to avoid going through round lake because of those dam RLB cops. Me and my buddies constantly get harassed by them for no reason what so ever.

Get a baby seat and put it in the back seat, and act all adult like when you get pulled over. It helps.
