Hello all,

I recently went and looked at a 88' GTA for sale a few miles from my house (Detroit burbs) that is advertised locally and for sale by a private owner. The car has 49K original miles - very good interior, brand new perfect factory color paint job (2 months old about 3K cost) with new emblems, perfect wheels and tires (factory) and 350 engine. The guy wants 8500 and says its worth 10K in the summer. I don't know what the car is worth. The car has 3 issues that make me think it is not a good deal -
1. Digital dash issue - the oil pressure gauge does not read (lights up and cycles when car is powered up) when it is cold out side - owner says gauge works fine in warm weather. It could be a gauge issue or a oil sender problem.
2. Headliner material is starting to sag a bit (rest of interior is perfect) - owner says it can be fixed for $200.00
3. Windshield has one bullseye - it can be reapired but has not been done.

If these items are fixed I would say the car is in show condition then - is the $8500 price tag too high. I was under the car and it has no rot, rust or anything - it looks like a 2 year old car down under.

 

Tell him you will give him 8000 for it. That way you can fix the problems.
