Hi.
I'm Michael and I just bought my first Firebird today. I bought a 84 Pontiac Firebird which was garaged for 17 years and driven the last three years.
Very nice car. It only has a 2.8L v6 but it does what I need it to.
The only thing to really replace/fix is the windshield(needs to be replaced) and the exhaust system(runs kinda louder than what it should). Other than that, the speed odometer is off by 10 miles so I have to pay attention when I drive
.
I was just wondering what I can expect with the Firebird? The odometer says 38,XXX miles and the previous owner was the first owner and says that they are legit miles. I only paid $1000 for the car. Then again, tough times here in Michigan so he could have been telling the truth. Probably just the mileage rolled over but no big deal.
Anyway, just popping in!

my take on the milage is that it is def rolled over. if a car is 24 years old and only been driven 7 years of that time and has only 38,000 miles he would have been able to get alot more than $1,000 for it. lie you said, its not much of an issue though. one thing you can do is run a car fax on it. if the car has had to undergo emissions testing or has been in an accident or had a title transfer it may say on there what the milage was on it at the time that an item was reported on it. any milage reported over 38,000 def would tell you that the car has a rolled odometer. if the car was actaully store for 17 years then the car has to be in good shape.these are becoming more rare and going up in price. store during the winter months and tae care of it and you'll get bac some much more out of your investment in terms of just plain enjoyment of the car and also resale value of the car. congrats on the nice buy!!

Yeah, the car is in good shape. Only some surface rust in the wheel wells. Other than that, just fine. I'm just waiting to find a windshield so when the weather picks up, I can take it out.
