From IL to MN...Need some advice?
I am from ATL, but traveling with with this week and will be leaving Chicago today to drive over towards Minneapolis, have to be there by Monday.
Is there anything or anyplace thats cool to stay in between for the weekend? Any car shows going on? Looking to stay somewhere outside the cities, more rural.

Not sure about in between, once you get to the cities there's a few places. There are a few hotels near the Mall of America on your way up (which you should check out).
You can make it 1 day from Chicago to Minneapolis. It's not that bad of a stretch once you get outside of chicago. Should be under 8 hours.

Unfortunately I don't think so. The ones I usually know about ended last month. Such as Back to the 50's at the state fair grounds, or Jimmy's bar and grill annual car show in white bear. Best you'll probably get is the MOA this time of year, and unfortunatley they haven't even moved into holiday routine yet so they don't have too many events going on either.
How long are you in MN for? I saw the Meet and eat thing, and I might be open this next week. I'm out in White bear lake about 5 minutes from the lake itself. If you have mapquest look up White Bear Bowling and that'll give you a good idea of where I am. Maybe we can figure something out if we get a few people together.
Oh btw the MN state fair is going on right now at the state fair grounds. There are either direct bus routes, or park and ride free locations. Something you should definately check out. Admission is 11$, other stuff varies.
www.mnstatefair.org Look for the park and ride and it'll give you a few locations, or the MOA might have some direct buses.
