if i buy a car in another state how do i do the registration and temperary stuff? can i get temp insurance and registration for the drive home?

 

i know that when you buy a car you automatically have so long (over a week)to get insurance, I think that you have to register right away, just go to your local bank and they'll tell you.

You are required to have insurance immediately on any vehicle driven in the state of illinois. You have 24 hours from the time of purchase to apply for registration. In case you get stopped make sure you have a bill of sale with the date on it. You can contact your insurance agent and you'll probably find that you are automatically insured on a new vehicle. Of course I don't know the laws of the state where you are purchasing the vehicle. Most states provide a temp or in transit permit.
