am i asking too much?

lots of views no reply's so i have to ask, am i asking too much for it?

the reason im asking here is because we all know car values change depending upon region. so i thought it best to ask the question amongst people in my region

heres the ad

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/fire...ild-built.html

and i priced it at 3500 been along time since i seen an fbody this generation in this good of shape, i know they exist but few and far. couple that with the engine work and thats how i determined the value.

thing is i dont want the car. id rather sell it and pick up something i want.

im asking for opinions here. regardless how they are given. thanks

Re: am i asking too much?

Seems like a fair price but, it's worth whatever someone will pay for it.

My is that the car looks a little ruff, dirty, and the pics aren't very good. People may be deterred by that and question the integrity of the cars mechanics and how well its been cared for. I understand what you mean when you say "been a long time since i've seen one in that good of shape" but its not that in that great of shape. It may be straight but you said it has a little rust and i can see it needs a paint job.

Clean it up GOOD! maybe wax it, polish the wheels, dress the tires.Take some new GOOD pics, you know, that look like the ones in the magazines and repost. I think you can get the $3500, just need to make it more appealing. You know, try to get the "OOH, shiny thing!" reaction. or at least make yourself say "dang, i forgot it looked that good"

Priced to high to move fast. You may get your asking price, but you're going to be waiting.

I purchased the car below for $4,500 and only had to secure the exhaust a bit better, and replace a few bulbs. It too has a small amount of rust (dime sized bubble on the quarter) but came drivable with an LS1/4L60E installed. Unless the car is super rare, and worth restoring, it's not a "deal" at $3,500.

Re: am i asking too much?

So I'm going to be brutally honest and say that the car will not bring $3500 with the way the add is written in my opinion. As it sits now, to me, it looks and sounds like a $2000 or less type of car. If I was to just run across this add on Craigslist, EBay, or wherever, my first thought would be if it was involved in a front end collision? I would also wonder why is the check engine light on.

I have bought and sold a ton of 3rd gens, other vehicles, and even sold cars at one point in time. My advice is to clean up the car, get some better pics, and put more positive things in your add then negative things. Also group all of the like things together ie: engine mods and running condition, then interior condition etc. Put the good and bad things for each section of the car in those groups. Say things like "the front fenders could stand to be painted" instead of "they look terrible".

I think with a little tweeking of the add and a quick detail you should be able to get $2750 to $3250 for the car. Well that's what i think it would sell for in my neck of the woods. (Nebraska)

Re: am i asking too much?

You may be better off selling the engine and transmission separately, then part the vehicle out and sell the body as a roller project for full restore or drag/road race/autocross only car. Without an interior and exterior in good shape (newer or damn good original paint and interior with no rips or stains or leaks) these cars just don't command much over $3K. Look at the fourth gens, those prices are falling all the time at least ours have stabilized in price!

$3500 is a bit too much. That RS looks sexy.
