lots of snow

well.. i don't know about you guys. but here at Stonehill College (N.Easton , Mass.) we got alomost 2 feet of snow. Luckily, my car is in Lincoln, RI. But anyways, what are your methods of storing your car for the winter. right now, all i have is a car cover on it, and its parked on a gravel driveway. do you think this will be suffice, if i got out and let it idle for like 10 minutes, once ever week or so?

i would imagine it would be ok as long as you started it occasionally..

the cover is a good idea... i need to scrape the 5 inches of snow off my coupe and put the cover on...

Right in the middle of PA. It is my daily driver, since it is my only car. When there is fresh snow, I am not going anywhere, not always because I refuse to drive, but because my car physically can't make it up a hill with fresh snow on the ground. It is not pretty. It belongs in a garage.

It can make it, you just need to have some willpower and not beat the hell out of it in the process
I drove about 40miles from my school to a ski place last weekend when we had so much snow.

ha I got no snow here in Buffalo but my car is stored for the winter.

I would suggest un hooking the battery and make sure the car was clean and waxed when you put the cover on.

i didn't even have to go out and scrape the snow off of my car.... it all melted within 3 days of falling.

now to pull the engine, port some heads, and put a cam in.

oh yeah, rebuild the carb too.

i've heard $60 an hour for porting, but that's from a local shop.

best bet is to call a couple local shops, and pick the one who you feel most comfortable with.

a cam can range anywhere from $80 (summit kit for small block) and up. there's probably less expensive cams out there as well.

checking with your machine shop may pay off as well. sometimes they will match or beat a competitor's pricing.
