its funny, I've always bagged on NJ, but I've always said jersey girls were the states saving grace, now, I'm moving there, for a girl, she's awesome, but it leaves me wit a problem, I have two cars, a 67 chevelle, and an 84 camaro, and I don't know which to bring, the chevelle is exempt for its age here in cali so its fine, but the camaro is gutted with a 400 with a fat cam and a single plane intake and headers sitting in it, so needless to say I've used my commercial autoparts distribution connectiong to get a hot smog run without even taking the car in

problem is that now i'm moving to jersey, I'd planned on putting the chevelle in storage here in cali, and coming to rescue it at a later date, doing a motor swap on the camaro and driving it, the problem is that the smog gear is gone, along with the ecu and everything else, it even has a mechanical fuel pump, I was going to go with a vortec head 350 engine, but I still planned on keeping the noncat exhaust and headers, and I was going to run a holley carb

here in cali they fail you more often for tech than actual numbers, and you have to get the smog before you can register the car, what am I up against in NJ

I know all the cali tricks, yes I've turned a v8 into a v four by pulling the rockers off four cylinders, yes I've also built dummy exhasts that dump 90% of the exhaust under the car and let the rest go out the origional pipe, and I know how to dummy up everything else so the car blows clean but doesn't have to deal with the smog crap, I've also painted manifolds black so they didn't look aluminum and all that, most shops don't honestly care anyway, and I've yet to have one bother looking under a car, the only problems I've really had are places trying to buy the car off me because they knew what I was up against and they thought they could score some parts for cheap, the best trick is still just putting your vin plate and tags on another car thats stock, can't beat that trick, anyway

could someone fill me in on the routine with nj, I'm moving there kind of seat of the pants, probably in about two weeks, and i'm going to be going strait to work so I really need to have it figured out before I get there, if someone can hook me up with a shop that will pass me it would deffinetl help out, I'm working at autozone and they've usually got connections with the shops, but I don't want to bank on that and have it not work out and be stuck with a car that I can't drive when I need to get to work

thanks to anyone who answers, I really need to get this figured out and although one of the chevelles is my daily driver, its kind of rough and I'm wanting something thats a little more polished like the camaro is, plus I know the camaro isn't going to bring a very good price and its exactly what I wanted in the car, the motor in it is going to one of the chevelles, so my option is to drop something in it and head for NJ, or sell it and cruise one of the chevelles, thanks again to all who reply
